Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor its characters. Rating is just to be on the safe side. Nothing explicit in this story, just hinting of things that are not suitable for young children in my opinion.
This is my first fanfiction. I have been around on the site a long time, but just for reading. This story came to me this morning, and it was just begging to be written. Since it's written, I might as well just upload it. English is not my native language, so if you see any grammar mistakes, feel free to point them out.
With a loud 'bang' the portrait closed behind Harry. He heard the Fat Lady yelling something after him, but he wasn't paying attention. He ran down the halls of Hogwarts, robes bellowing behind him. In his right hand he clutched the items like his life depended on it. Well, maybe his life did depend on it, he thought sadly. Both his life and Ron's did. The thought gave him renewed energy and he jumped down the stairs three steps at a time.
He had to make it in time, he had no choice. He promised Ron, and he wouldn't let Ron down. He shuddered at the thoughts of what punishment Ron might receive if he would be too late. Harry clenched his teeth. He would make it in time! He skipped to a halt on the moving staircases, desperately wanting it to move down so he wouldn't lose too much time. Instead of waiting for the staircases to come to a halt he jumped the last few feet. He almost tripped over his feet when he landed, and he cursed himself for his clumsiness.
He glanced at the big clock in the Great Hall and started to panic. There wasn't enough time! He took off in a massive sprint to the dungeons. In his haste he didn't notice Sir Nicholas floating through a wall so he ran right through him. He winced at the cold but didn't stop to apologize.
'You're late Harry! Hurry!' Nicholas shouted after him.
'I know!' Harry thought, and used all his remaining energy for a last giant sprint towards the dungeons. He almost collided with professor Snape as the latter one was just about to close the door to the classroom.
'10 points from Gryffindor for running in the halls Potter, and another 10 for being late. Just because you are famous doesn't mean that you can be late for my classes. Hurry to your seat before I deduct any more points' Snape sneered at him.
Harry had not enough breath left to properly respond. He staggered in his seat next to Ron.
'Do you have it?' Ron whispered.
Exhausted, Harry dropped his and Ron's potion essay on the desk.
'Thanks mate! I don't want to know what Snape would have done to us if we had to tell him we forgot our essays in the Tower this morning. You're a life saver Harry!'
