Chapter One.

"It's okay, I'll bring Sasuke back for sure! That's my promise of a lifetime!"

"Thank you Naru, thank you!" She sobbed loudly hugging herself as tears poured down her cheeks and to the ground, the wind blew through her bubblegum pink locks.

"Sasuke is still a blank canvas, he can be dyed any color. Would you be able to stop him? Kill him if need be? Can you really weigh Sasuke on a set of scales against Konoha?"

"Gah!" I cursed harshly wiping the tear from my eyes as I launched through the snowy forest, my senjutsu aided tracking Kakashi and Sai's chakra. I had to make it in time. I couldn't let them do this! They couldn't kill Sasuke. I have to save him. I have to bring him home!

"To take on the mantle of a Kage, you must make choices for others. You must decide what is best for Sasuke. As his friend what must you do for him, as Kage what must you do for your people."

"When I see him I'll know. When I look in his eyes I will know exactly what to do!" I mumbled pouring more chakra in my feet leaping farther and faster praying to Kami I made it in time!

Kakashi POV

"Sasuke, I don't want to kill you." I said maybe deep down hoping I could reach the boy I knew.

"You talk like you could kill me anytime!" Sasuke snarled. "Stop acting like you're my teacher! I'm just itching to kill you Kakashi!" He laughed like he was insane, which I truly didn't doubt anymore. 'He's been truly brainwashed by Madara…' I thought sadly.

"Sakura, heal that girl to the point she can speak, you should still be in time." I ordered in a low voice to the medic. "She knows a lot about our enemies."

"What about you?" She asked full of worry.

"Sakura ….. Take that girl and get far away from here." I said sternly not answering her question, I turned and gave a smile to her. "I will take on what would have been your burden. That is my role as your sensei." I watched her bottom lip quiver and tear build up in her green eyes. "Now hurry up and go." Sasuke glared at us his muscle tight and ready, I shifted forward.

I closed my eyes and let out a shaky breath. "He truly continued to feel affection towards Orochimaru, no matter how far he fell, now I finally understand what the Sandaime Hokage went through."

"Well, then you can go the way of that fool!" Sasuke snarled shooting with great speed towards me, I grunted in shock nearly forgetting Sasuke's speed. He aimed towards Sakura who was still gathering the wounded girl in her arms.

"No!" I barked turning ready to throw myself in the way, to take the chidori I foolishly taught him, I was prepared to take the killing blow and kill the boy also. I grunted in shock as a powerful force yanked me backwards as a golden blur shot in my eyesight.

Sasuke's pained cough sounded. "Damn you Naru.." Sasuke hissed. I snapped my eyes open and stared in shock. Sasuke was heavy slumped over, blood splattered the concrete, the chidori faded slowly. In front stood Naru's form with Sasuke slumped against it, her right side torn open from the chidori, blood pouring down her body. Sasuke coughed heavily blood flying out hitting her cheek, I could see the cause, Naru's arm now clean through the boys chest, the swirling blue chakra faded with the air. Sasuke groaned before his legs gave out, he hit the concrete with a thud, the light faded from his eyes.

"Naru… what?" I huffed.

She turned her head, her own eyes void of light. "It's done…" She muttered and stepped forward hobbling into the snowy woods from where she came.

"Sasuke-kun…" Sakura sobbed behind me. I huffed quickly trying to compose and comprehend what the hell just happened.
