[Lyah]

The moment I opened my mouth to scream someone or something slapped me across the face. Hard enough to knock me to the side and bang my bruised arm onto cold metal. There feelings of danger surrounded me and the first instinct was to run. Except I couldn't because my legs were like jelly.

What ever hit me started shaking my cage violently and growled.

"Stop! You'll damage the wings. Go back to the pound mutt we can handle this." A cold voice said. I opened my eyes and felt something wrapped around my head. Something that prevented me from seeing my surroundings and only terrified me more. Where was I?

"Lyah?" a much softer voice spoke to me and it rang a bell in my head. "You don't need to be alarmed. Just take it easy okay? Can you do that for me?"

I nodded my head and tried controlling my breathing. Calm down, calm down and start asking questions.

"I know you're scared and confused. You've been asleep for quite a while now and might find it hard to control your movements. Take it slow."

"Wh…wh…" my mouth felt alien to me and I couldn't control my words.

"Don't talk my girl. Now I'm going to take your hand and put you on a wheel chair. You're going to have to trust me. I'll explain everything to you soon."

Suddenly someone lifted me up and my panic levels rose and I tried squirming out of a powerful grip. I was sat down on something soft and my hands tied down. I felt myself began to move and more calming words. Eventually I came to a stop and everything was quite.

"Lyah. I know you can't speak and that will make things difficult for us to communicate. So I just want you to think really loudly. Okay?"

I nodded, not because I understood, I nodded to play along. If I do what he says that might make things a little better for me.

"Lyah what is the last thing you remember? Think it."

I tried thinking of the last thing I saw. Then I realized I didn't remember anything! Not my past, not myself, and my own name didn't even bring any familiarity.

"The reason you can't remember anything is because you lost your memory. There was a terrible accident and you've been in a coma for four years."

Four years? I've been in a coma for four years!

"Lyah over the next few days you're going to discover things that might frighten you. But I promise you that over time you'll adjust and everything well be fine. Do you have any questions?"

I had a million questions to ask him. First…how do I know you?

He chuckled slightly and put his hand over mine.

"I am your father Lyah, my name is Jeb Batchelder."
