Charcoal Eyes

The one thing Bellatrix Lestrange's victims always remembered about her was her eyes.
In her younger years her eyes had been a beautiful shade of dark grey that her mother and sisters had often complimented her on. But the years in Azkaban had taken their toll on her. Not only had they transformed a once beautiful, poignant woman into a haggard crone, but the Dementors had played tricks on her mind, sucking every good memory out of her, all that was left was hurt and suffering, and it had slowly driven her mad.
She would never tell anyone this—it being her secret shame, but in Azkaban, she had truly afraid of what was going to happen to her. She had always said that a few years in Azkaban were well worth it for the Dark Lord, and yet, there was a small part of her that wondered if it truly was worth it, though she tended to ignore that thought, it being a highly dangerous one.
She was the Dark Lord's favourite and most loyal subject, if he ever knew that she of all people was having even briefdoubts about his cause, then he would surely kill them all…
For the time she had spent in Azkaban she had sworn revenge on all of those who were not of Pure blood or blood traitors. People like Hermione and the Weasley's. She had even murdered her cousin and niece as if they were nothing more than irritating flies that needed to be swatted.
Her eyes were like charcoal: They left a black mark not on your hands like a piece of charcoal normally would, but they left an ugly mark on your soul… One that would never leave you for as long as you lived. They inspired terror, and bought on the sensation that everything around you wilting like a flower.
However, when the great Bellatrix Lestrange died, her eyes were not full of poison or malice; they were filled with utter shock and disbelief, that blood-traitor of all people had managed to kill her, not only that but it had been a Weasley!
She had expected to die beside the Dark Lord, sharing his throne, but not like that… Never like that.
Bellatrix Lestrange died with shock, despair and hatred marring her charcoal eyes.
