This is my first American Dragon story. I hope you like it, even though it is a little rough. Please review!!!
You've fought in so many battles as the American Dragon and have been hurt so many times. Yet nothing compares to right now. There's not a broken bone on your body, but your hear is spilt in two. And everyone knows that the heart is the one organ that can get hurt the most, even protected by dragon skin.
Today you don't want to be a dragon. All you want to be right now is a boy with a broken heart because the Rose you knew is gone. She may not be dead but the living Rose is someone you don't know. You don't know what is her favorite stuffed animal or what her dad does for a living or who was her first kiss. (You know it wasn't you and your heart breaks more). You won't ever know anything about the girl you love so much.
Your grandpa just used the overly cliche line, "It is better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all." You want scream at him, no it's not. The love you have for Rose is still there but she is lost and won't be found, not even by you. So you wish with all of your fragile, broken heart that you will forget her, just like she forgot you. Then maybe you can live again. You don't say this because screaming has never worked with him, so it probably won't work now. (you know that Grandpa heard it, though. He is good at hearing things that are unsaid.) You counter his saying with one of your own (First love never dies) and walk away.
The saying is true, but you'll fall in love again, that you know for certain. She'll be a short woman with midnight black hair and laughing hazel eyes. A woman that when you look at her, you won't see any ghosts. You could only marry a woman like that. A woman who will know everything about you and your world. (Look what secrets did to the first girl you loved.) That way when you name your daughter Rose, she will smile sadly and understand.
