This is about the relationship between Toothless and Hiccup through the years, including what Toothless thought of Alvin.

Toothless woke Hiccup up with a start, sitting on his bed expectantly.

"Toothless hungry."

Hiccup threw his pillow over his head. Toothless scratched it off.

"T-toothless gonna die of h-hunger."

"Fine, Toothless. I'm going. To the harbor. See?" Hiccup put his cold feet out of bed. He slipped his clothes on and pushed open the door, sending a gust of cold air out the door. He hoped his father hadn't felt that. Hiccup waited until his father let out another great snore before leaving. He was wet before he got to the ocean, but he kept going. He dug his numb hands into the muddy sand until his fingers found the hard figure of an oyster. He barely let his eyes off the ground when he saw Snotlout in front of him, his hands on his hips. Dogsbreath was standing behind him, looking confused.

"Hunting for your toothless dragon, Useless? Has he recruited you as his Bardigaurd? Waste of time, even for someone as puny as him." Hiccup turned red and gathered back up his oysters.

"He was hungry, and he doesn't like oysters with black bits in them. That's all it is, Snotlout."

"Your Highness to you, Useless."

"N-no one makes f-fun of m-master!" Hiccup was happy to see Toothless flying down the harbor, coming to the rescue. He bit Dogsbreath on the arm, and shouted insults down at Snotlout. Hiccup was able to run off with the oysters in the flurry. He and Toothless high-threed as they ran back to the Chief's hut, their safe haven.

Hiccup stuck some driftwood in Toothless's oysters and placed them on a wooden plate just as his father walked in.

"Morning, father." said Hiccup, trying to sound like he just woke up.

"Hiccup, we need to talk about your report card." Hiccup sighed and flopped down on a chair, not ready for this conversation.
