Waiting Forever by Little Myuki
Well, my first fanfiction, lets simply hope that it turns out to be good. After much thinking, I've decided to do an Fma(b) fanfic. Disclaimer: I own Fma(b) {in my dreams}.
Trisha Elric eyed the window again, this time rather hopefully. The hand turning the bell looked so much like his…. It must be his, he was coming back home after so many years. Joy blossomed in her heart and she ran and pulled the door open. 'Van!' she smiled and hugged him tightly, the smell of his skin was the same, overwhelming, asking her to bask in its warm embrace. 'Um...a…Mom?' the voice…why was the voice so different, so different? Trisha gulped back a choking sob. The person she had hoped to be coming was not the person she was hugging. Edward Elric looked at his mother. She had been hugging him awkwardly all this time and murmuring 'You came back, just as I expected…I knew you would. All this time I waited for you, I believed in you.'
'What happened, Ed?' Alphonse Elric asked his brother the minute he stepped in. 'I saw mom hugging you downstairs.' 'Nothing much' answered the blonde, 'She remembered someone called Van, some ancestor or grandfather or something.' 'Mom's not well, she already has an illness, and on top of that, she is remembering someone long dead, Ed…mom's not gonna die, is she?' ''Course not, stupid' 'Don't call me that metal-head' 'I will call you that, dunder-head' 'You Lucy girl!' The quarrel went on for a few minutes, and then a big drama of apologizing took place. Trisha Elric did not hear a word of the events; she was too busy making supper for their family of three, plus a cat. The table creaked under the weight of Trisha's excellent cooking, plates bearing red, meaty and juicy beefs; lovely chocolate treacle tart, tasty cherry pie and sweet apple meringue took pride in the centre of the table. There was also a couple of Dufy's Awesome Dry Fish, which were fried and put in the cat's bowl. The cat and the Elric family dug into their plates, and for a moment there were no talks, only the sound of the bowls scraped clean. Then came the questions of 'Did you do your homework?' 'Stayed like a good boy in school', etc. Most of the answers were affirmative, with the cat giving a 'meow' to every question. Trisha washed the plates after dinner, while the boys arranged their routine and watched the television. When Trisha told them to go to bed, they wailed and whined and created a ruckus. 'Please mom, only on-' Mom, I stayed like a good boy al-No! no! Just go to sleep, for God's sake'. At last the boys accepted defeat and skulked and sulked to bed. Soon they were snoring.
Trisha Elric grasped Van Hohenhiem's outstretched hand. He smiled at her, and led her to a tunnel. In the far end, she could see beautiful gardens and there were actually angels . 'But I can't leave the boys…I can't!' she tried to free her hand. Honhenhiem threw her hand away and looked at her with a pained and incredulous expression. 'You will get God Himself! You will see him. You will get me. That totals more than the lives of two ignorant boys.' 'How dare you say so!' Trisha shouted; eyes full of tears. 'My boys are like parts of my heart!' 'Bye then' Van Hohenhiem went into the tunnel and it disappeared. Trisha was left alone in the darkness and she fell. 'Help' she cried. She woke up. She was in her room, her forehead clammy with sweat. She went into her boys' room, tripping up the steps slowly and heavily. She felt like throwing up and fainting. She sat near their bed and caressed both their heads. 'Van, I'll wait for you for forever, but I just can't desert my boys and betray them. They are like jewels to me.'
