Supernatural: Grieving
A/N: Here's the final one-shot for season 3, and it'll give you an idea of how Bobby is coping with the deaths of Dean and Liz and all the other deaths in his lifetime.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything from Supernatural. I just own any and all characters that I just happen create.
BOBBY: GRIEVING
"Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly."
Psalms 31:9
Bobby had never really been one to grieve, not even on the night that he'd shot his own old man with that rifle, and yet here he was now, grieving for the lost of Dean and Elizabeth Winchester. True, he'd mourned the lost of his wife and had cried when his mother had passed, but it was nothing like the lost of two young people that he considered to be his own children.
When the Winchesters had been a lot younger and John had left them in his care, he did do some training with them, but mostly he strove to give them all some kind of a childhood, too. He stocked up on toys and books for the Winchesters to enjoy when they were little and as time went by, he switched the stuff out for more age-appropriate items up until Sam left for college and John stopped coming around after that one fight.
Now, Bobby was having to bury Dean and Liz, despite having insisted that they should be salted and burned as was traditional for dead hunters, Sam had refused with the declaration that his brother and sister would need their bodies when he got them back home. This had left him concern that the youngest Winchester was going to do something stupid like sell his own soul in order to get them back.
He couldn't help but think about everything that had happen during that year with trying to get Liz out of her deal, Jason Gideon leaving the BAU, crossing paths with Bela several times, getting to know David Rossi, who'd come out of retirement to rejoin the BAU and finally solve a cold case that had been haunting him for the past twenty years, getting the Colt to work just to have it stolen, taking out Gordon Walker, and then discovering that not only was there a new ruler of Hell, a demon called Lilith, but also that there was actually a semi-decent demon named Ruby.
It'd been a crazy year, but it had had its' perks, the biggest being him asking Ellen to marry him. It hadn't been planned, not really, but with all the time that both Ellen and Jo had spent living with him in his house, he couldn't help but appreciate how nice it was to have others with him, and after almost dying in the dream world at the hands of his dead wife, he'd realized that he had to stop wasting time and do it.
But that wasn't important, what was important was making sure that Sam didn't do anything stupid and figure out a way to rescue Dean and Liz from hell before it was too late.
A/N: And that's a wrap for season 3. So, like I said last week, I am working on season 4, but I'm dealing with writer's block and there are a whole lot of there fanfics for other fandoms that I enjoy that I'm writing, too. So, who knows what I'll be posting next week and I don't post anything, don't be alarmed, I'll be posting something fun to read. R&R everyone!
