A/N: Wrote this for a school project. XD that's right, I managed to turn writing prompt about relationships into a fanfiction about Sherlock. Course, I had to edit a few things to make it less obvious…like the original John Watson had a bulldog and called Sherlock 'Holmes' all the time. But still…

Anywho. Read as you wish.

Your Holmes to my Watson

There are few relationships more imbalanced, more stimulating, and more emotionally taxing than the one I share with Sherlock Holmes.

"John? Fetch me my revolver!" His voice carries from upstairs. I ignore it, continuing to pretend to read my book. Were it that Sherlock had a good reason to have his gun, I retrieved it from the countertop for him. But whatever the madman had planned, I knew it couldn't be good.

I suppose I cant complain. After all, the man is a genius. Childish yes, but utterly brilliant. Though his creative mind is rarely occupied, leading to unfortunate scenarios.

A normal friend does not play the violin at 3am, waking even the neighbors down the street, or inject my pet bulldog with narcotic drugs, only to revive him later with a dose of adrenaline for an 'Experiment'. Yet Holmes has done so, and far more.

Lost in thought, I pretend to ignore Holmes as he stomps down the stairs like an angry, stubborn toddler to retrieve his gun. I don't look up as he sprints back up to his room, gun in hand, to do god knows what. I don't follow. Whatever he is up to, I can deal with it later.

Yes, to some Sherlock is more an anomaly and nuisance than a human being. Sometimes I myself, upon waking to the man checking my vitals in my sleep for yet another 'Experiment', wonder why it is that I deal with such a character. Yet, I continue to live here, to deal with a sociopathic genius, and continue to be his partner-in-crime. Or rather, partner-in-stopping-crime.

And I don't plan on leaving, as evidenced by when I hear the fateful and inevitable shots from a revolver upstairs and smile. I smile because this is where I belong, here to stop whatever idiotic thing Holmes got himself into. Here to partner the genius, and here to stay.

Because every Sherlock Holmes needs a John Watson.
