The Boyfriend Fix

Sometimes, Annabeth really hated her cabin. The beds, the desk chairs, the bathroom; they were all designed for practicality, not comfort. And for five days out of every month, Annabeth absolutely hated it.

She was strong, she told herself, she did not bow to pain. Though, as she lay spread eagle on her tiny bunk, a heating pad pressed against her stomach, she couldn't help but want to cease existence.

At the very least she had been left alone. She knew that she could be a real bitch on her period ("You mean more than usual?" "Shut up, Thalia.") She wouldn't hurt any of her half-siblings' feelings this way.

There was a knock on the front door of the cabin. Annabeth froze mid-pity party.

"Annabeth? Wise Girl? You in there?"

Percy.

"It's, um, it's open."

Poor Percy. She really didn't deserve that sweet, bumbling Seaweed Brain, sometimes.

He walked in with a bag in hand and carefully picked his way to her bunk. It was obvious he was doing his best not to step on any half-finished brain-child projects. Other than that, Percy looked like he always did: wearing a faded camp t-shirt and cargo shorts. His green eyes were sparkling under messy black bangs.

"So I heard you were in pain-"

"Thanks Seaweed Brain but if you're just gonna be a smartass you can leave."

"-so I brought you ice cream!" Annabeth just stared at him.

"You what?" Percy smirked triumphantly. "Ice cream, I brought you mint chocolate chip ice cream. Malcolm was talking about how much pain you were in, and I thought you could use some ice cream." Percy sat down on the bed and took a pint of Ben and Jerry's™ and a spoon out of the bag he'd brought. Annabeth took them for him, carefully.

"This is really sweet of you, Percy, but-"

"The lady doth protest too much, me thinks," Percy said as he kicked off his shoes and crawled over her to get to the other side of the bunk. It was comical, Annabeth thought, as she watched Percy try to fit his muscular frame built by years of sword fighting between her and the wall.

"Comfy?" Annabeth couldn't help but smirk.

"Not at all," Percy said, "next month I'm going to kidnap you and keep you in my cabin. It'll make my job as your boyfriend much easier." He placed his head on her pillow and looked up at her.

"When have I ever made things easy for you?" Annabeth asked as she reclined against the wall. She reached down and adjusted her heating pad.

"Never, now eat up, cause we have an hour until I have to teach and your siblings come back and yell at us."

Annabeth smiled, "Thanks Percy. This is really nice of you. I love you a lot, you know?" Percy sought out her hand and gave it a little squeeze, "Mm, I know, now are you gonna share or what?"

This got a laugh out of Annabeth. She shifted closer to Percy and opened her pint.
