The Digiworld is nothing like the one they show on TV.
It is a place of despair and hopelessness.
ooooooo
Taichi Kamiya, age 16, watched the basketball game form the corner of the gym. His legs were drawn up to his chest encircled by his right arm. The gym uniform that the school forced everyone to wear hung loosely on the teen, too big for his small frame.
Although he was separated and away from those playing the game, his lips were drawn up in a joyful smile as his large eyes darted back and forth following the ball.
With less than a minute left in the game the teams were getting anxious, well, the guy half was, the girl half were still standing around in circles all over the court complaining that the sport will ruin their recently manicured nails.
The dribbles got faster and the squeak of shoes on the gym floor grew louder until the final swoosh of the basket determined the winner of the game. The gym broke out in cheers as the shooter was lifted high into the air by his teammates and the girls finally realized the game was over and began to celebrate their victory. Soon the whole gym was filled with a chant.
"Matt! Matt! Matt!"
The losing team joined in by clapping and laughing along swept along by the celebration. But soon the coach had to break off the party so they could get dressed before the bell rang. The student filed into their designated locker rooms while the couples took a little bit longer than the others to say their heartfelt goodbyes.
Taichi stood up from his corner to walk to the lockers and was joined by Matt, still smiling brightly from the game.
"Wow Matt that was a half-court shot! I didn't even know you could do that!" Tai said, still excited.
Matt's smile grew as he chuckled, he head bowing as if he was shy, but they both knew he was basking in the praise.
"Of course, do you know how long I practice basketball? Come on, we don't want to be late for class."
The brunette nodded and bounced a little as they headed towards the lockers as his empty left sleeve fluttered happily behind him.
