Gazing at the moon, Lina Inverse sat down on the grassy field, her fiery red eyes soft and illuminated by the gentle light. She unfastened her shoulder guards, letting it drop along with her cape upon the grass. Leaning back, she laid down and released a sigh of content.

"Can't sleep, Lina?"

The girl never batted an eyelid. "Mm hm. What about you Zel?"

"I just felt like taking a midnight stroll." Settling down beside Lina, the chimera glanced at her, a slight blush on his cheeks.

There was a moment of complete silence, before the bandit killer smiled.

"Don't you just love the moon, Zel? So beautiful, so gentle, so warm…yet shrouded with dark clouds, giving it a slight coldness…"

Zelgadiss turned his attention to the shining moon behind the dark clouds, missing entirely the tender look the girl had flashed at him.

"I prefer the sun." Sapphire eyes closed as the cursed youth relaxed. "I love it for its radiance, its great warmth, and most importantly…"

The eyes opened to pierce into red ones. "…it's fiery beauty."

Sitting up, Lina turned to the chimera. "Zel…I-"

She was interrupted as Zelgadiss's lips met her own.

Raising her head, Lina leaned back into Zelgadiss's arms.

"The moon looks brighter than ever tonight…"

"So it does, Lina…so it does…"
