Disclaimer: I don't own Jadt

Jane had died. The realization hit him like the way lightning struck a tree splitting it in two. Why did it have to be her? Why? Why didn't anyone tell me until now? Jester's mind swirled around and around. The sickening absence of Jane was killing him. It made him sick, sad, angered, and mostly...depressed. He was a court Jester, how could he be depressed? He was supposed to be the court fool, the one who made silly jests, and faces. Jester heard knock on the door, "Jester," a voice called. He lifted his head up and went to open the door to find the Queen standing in front of the door. "Your majesty." Jester bowed down. He felt sick and light headed but he couldn't let the Queen see him all sulked. "Do you want to know what happened to Jane?" The Queen asked gently. Jester wanted to say no, no I don't want to know what happened to her, it was too painful, too gruesome, too sad, too sickening, but he wanted to say yes, yes I want to know what happened to the girl I loved, I don't want it to remain a mystery to me.

*flashback*
"Someone has died your majesty." Jester heard "Who?" The King asked.
"Jane." A voice said. Jester felt like the Jane's practice dummy had knocked him out.
Jester heard the King suck in a deep breath and say, " Where did this happen? When did it happen? and why did this happen?" Sadness, rage, and loss filled his words.
Jester barely heard anything as he fell to the ground, his knees too weak to support himself. He laid twisted on the ground letting his tears soak the mud ground.

*end of flashback*

Jester began to cry as the Queen tried to calm him. "I will come later if you wish" The Queen said. Jester shook his head no, he wanted the Queen to stay with him and tell him what happened. The Queen let him calm down and she began her story.
-

The little Princess still oblivious about Jane's death wandered around wondering why everyone looked so sad. She had asked multiple times. "What happened?" but everyone just answered her with tears and shaky breaths. Even her father, the King had dismissed her. -

Jester felt numb as he tried to understand. He let a few tears fall and then calmed as he heard another knock at the door. "Jesta." The voice said. Jester looked at the Queen who just stared at the door and hesitantly nodded yes that he could open the door. The little princess wasn't supposed to know about this. "Jesta, what happened? Why is everyone sad?" The princess paused and then asked, "Why are you sad?" Jester felt nervousness. He looked over at the Queen again to make sure it was alright to tell the princess. "Jane," He said before pausing. "died." He finished.

The princess looked at him with shock, "Jane is a knight, Jane can't die." Just then Gunther who was Jane's rival came in," you mean Princess, Jane WAS a knight, Jane CAN die, and she IS dead." The princess just let herself fall to the floor crying, and everyone wept that day.
