Author's Note:This is Part 7 of the series of one-shots for Valentine's Day. My friends requested me to write these for a few of their favourite characters, and so...here goes!

Valentine's Day One-Shot entry 7: Jin (Samurai Champloo)

KATANA

What was the most important thing to a samurai? His sword.

Jin marveled at the sheen of his katana as he polished it with a cloth. This sword had been his faithful companion ever since he was at the dojo. He looked at the blade as it glowed in the moonlight.

Meanwhile, you peeked at him from behind the slightly ajar door, and watched him appreciate his katana. He was as he ever stayed; sitting on his futon, polishing his dearest katana.

Jin suspected that someone was watching him. He decided to see whether his 'samurai senses' were correct or not, and without a warning, he sent the katana flying towards the door of his room.

You were horrified beyond compare and you squealed for dear life. But fortunately, clever and an excellent shot as he was, Jin had aimed the katana such that the door's thin screen-material had been cut through, and the katana had impaled the kimono over the side of your waist and pinned you to the wooden back wall.

"May I know why you are spying on me?" Jin looked as expressionless as ever as he strolled over to where you stood, unable to move. He pierced you with his hot, but dead-fish eyes.

"Umm…I was wondering if you could teach me how to use that katana. You and your friend were so brave back at down then, and I hardly caught your name. Your friend, Mugen, he had been shouting at you. The girl, Fuu, she told me about you guys and how you met up. I was fascinated. We always have so many raids along these towns. Perverts are mostly common." You said with a disgusted tone. "They like to take advantage of the defenseless girls and beat them into submission. So, since it's quite handy for a girl to be able to fight back, I chose to learn. From you."

Jin pulled out the sword from the wood, setting you free. The katana had torn a part of the blue fabric of the kimono, and showed a bit of skin.

"And what made you think that I'm going to teach you?" Jin voiced the obvious fact. The two of you were complete strangers, and he wouldn't pass his ronin knowledge to some girl who may misuse it.

"You seemed nice enough." You replied, blushing slightly.

"Well then. We shall get along with this, but I will expect a payment of some sort…" was Jin's final reply.

You were quite willing to give him any sort of payment, actually.
