GENERATION MEW: EXPERIMENT NUMBER 2
Note: This is the first in a series of one or two-shot backstories for The Mew Gang. Max will have a chaptered backstory, however, since his ties in with Electric Heights quite heavily.
This is Gary's backstory.
Anger
Hurt
Betrayal
Why would he do this?
What had he done wrong this time?
Gary sighed.
Same thing, every day.
Always.
He read the sign on the cage door again, for what felt like the millionth time.
Experiment 2#
Success (predicted to survive)
Why?
That was a question that was always stuck in his head.
He'd been through so many things, only to be betrayed by his own grandfather. Experimented on, and then discarded in a cage in the basement.
He couldn't escape, because of that cage; it was created with dark energy in it, and he couldn't teleport or whatever mews do.
So he waited.
And one day, the chance came.
One day, the cage door seemed...loose. Like it had been pulled on by something.
Not a moment after he saw this, a mew floated in his face.
[Hi!] He said, his voice revealing that he was male. [I'm Diamond. Who're you?]
Gary stared at him. [My name is Gary.]
[That's a nice name. Reminds me of someone, though...maybe I heard it when I was looking through all those old league tapes. You ever been in a league?]
Gary nodded, puzzled.
[Wonder which one...not very talkative, are you?] Diamond said, seeming a bit oblivious.
[Nah.] Gary replied, still staring.
[Maybe it was the Indigo League...or was it the Silver Conference? I really have no idea.] Diamond said, staring at the ceiling. [Oh, hey, look, a bug!]
Surprisingly, the bug answered. It said, [DON'T YOU DARE EAT ME.] The bug then turned into a mew.
From his voice, Gary deduced that the mew was male.
The mew then turned to him, saying, [Hmm...wonder if the cage is flammable...oh, wait, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Pearl. Diamond, did you introduce yourself?]
Gary nodded. [He did.]
Diamond glared at him, which made him look almost demonic. [I could have said that myself.]
Gary shrugged. [Just trying to help.]
Pearl quickly broke it up before it became a fight. [So, uh, Diamond, Gary, back up.]
They complied, and Gary wondered why. Maybe because we were fighting?
He figured out why about a half-second before Pearl Flamethrowered the cage.
Gary blinked. [Uh...]
The cage door fell down.
Gary was out of there before a second had passed.
Pearl was slightly disgruntled. [Well, that's not flammable. Shoulda guessed. It was still fun, though.]
Gary looked at him. [You tried to set fire to something that isn't flammable. On top of that, you nearly hit me.]
Pearl shrugged. [Not like I actually hit you.]
[True.]
They all stayed silent for a minute.
Suddenly, the door slammed open and shut.
"GARY OAK!" Professor Oak yelled. "How on Earth did you get..." He trailed off, seeing the broken, glowing red cage.
Gary shrugged. [Lucky.]
"Speak in English. I cannot understand you."
Gary frowned. [You know damn well I can't.]
"Speak. In. English."
Pearl floated in front of the professor, a bright smile on his face. Hello, He telepathed. Are you flammable?
Gary seemed surprised. [You can do that?]
Diamond shrugged. [I'm assuming you can.]
They watched silently as Pearl chased Professor Oak around, breathing fire.
An hour later, Pearl was finally done.
Gary stared at the professor, and then Pearl. [Let's get out of here before he wakes up.]
Pearl nodded. [I concur.]
Diamond shrugged. [Ditto, I guess.]
Both Gary and Pearl looked around frantically, before realizing he meant "same".
And so they left.
END
A/N: That was stupid...oh well. Hope you liked it.
