Feris Wheels are Fun

"Jean-Luc!" Beverly Crusher shrieked. "When you said we'd be facing my fear of heights, this is definitely NOT what I had in mind!"

"I'm sorry Beverly," Picard chuckled. "I had no idea this ferris wheel would go this high, or be this unstable."

Beverly tried as hard as she could not to look over the edge. She tried to glance at Jean-Luc, but she was trying to maintain some semblance of self control, and ended up looking at the ground. She stared as they were at least fifty feet off the ground. She reminded herself to breathe and that they were in the holodeck. The safeties were on; neither of them could get hurt. She shivered, it was cold in there.

"I told you to dress warmly," Jean-Luc chided, wrapping her arms around her. "And look at the positives."

"How could this possibly be good for me?" she asked. Then she thought about it. The view was romantic... and he was oh so warm... but no, Jean-Luc was too much of a gentleman for that. Besides, she had already told him that she wasn't ready for a relationship. Though the truth was she was ready, she just wanted him to come after her. She closed her eyes as he spoke right in her ear, his breathing a steady rhythm with the breath being hot on her ear. "Beverly, are you sure you're all right?" His fingers curled around the base of her neck as he spun her around to face him.

She meant to say "Yes Jean-Luc, I'm quite all right", she really did, but he said it so softly with such concern that it touched her heart. She couldn't help it, she kissed him softly, tenderly. He stiffened, surprised, no doubt waiting to be rejected yet again; but as she deepened the kiss he gave in, kissing back with equal if not more passion. As he did this something inside Beverly snapped, all her self control left her. One second she was sitting upright, the next she was on him, kissing all the exposed flesh she could find. She met his lips again as the heat intensified tenfold. The kisses slowed, but finally they had to stop to breathe.

"I thought you were afraid of rickety constructions." Picard panted. Beverly stopped for a moment, considering.

"Computer, freeze program," she ordered. The ride stopped moving and the people froze on the ground; all was silent. She grinned as she leaned over and started to unbutton his coat.

"I think I'm beginning to like Ferris Wheels."

Author's note: This isn't my first fanfic, but this is the first one I'm putting on here, so feedback is very much appreciated. Many thanks to my friend for reading my fanfics and lending advice when needed. Also thanks to a certain sci-fi fan who inspired this.
