WRITER'S NOTE:

The story you are about to read is a work of fiction or basically not based on actual events. The names, places, events, organizations and some other things that will be mentioned in the story are used fictitiously. I do not own any soundtracks used all throughout the narrative. I do not own the rights of the pictures that have been used for the cover photo. Any similarity to a person, living or dead, is purely coincidence. Also, any similarity to an unsolved or closed case is strictly coincidence.

I am a Filipina, therefore, my VauseMan FanFic's setting will be in my country. Also, some of the original cast will be used fictionaly. The characters are owned by Jenji Kohan, the creator of Orange Is The New Black, a Netflix series based on Piper Kerman's book. The FanFic also has a different plot, unlike the TV series. You can also find this story on Wattpad under the same username AlysInZombieland.

CHAPTER ONE

Vause

"Another admission on the stand!" One of my former professor in law school gave me a firm handshake. This guy is the one who had given me the highest grades. "Congratulations. You deserve all of the praise." He hugged me before lifting his attache case. "You make me feel good about myself. Thank you."

When my old professor left, I was approached by the lawyer of the offended party. I thought he was going to give me the same love, but turns out, it was the other way around. "So, you're the gunner I've heard about. Pity. I thought she would be a lot more mature and... better."

"Seems like someone is not happy about the final verdict." I answered back. Why would I let anyone insult me?

The man who confronted me scooched in closer to me. He even pointed his finger at me. "Watch your mouth, child. You don't know me."

"As a matter of fact, I do, 'cause you're the last guy I just turned into a loser that he had always been in his entire life."

"You disrespectful bastard!"

"You started it, mister." I can't help not to laugh. "And then you have the audacity to call me immature? Hmm, didn't your mother and father ever tell you not to pick on little kids? Scurry along, grandpa. If I were you, I would just stay at home and have a long vacation. I mean, people like you doesn't have that much time anymore, right?"

"I can't believe people actually thought millenials like you could actually be our future."

"And all this time, I never thought old, wise men, like yourself would never insult kids when they just won a case." I snapped back, making him shut his mouth. "Am I right or not?"

"Why... you-"

He raised his hand like he was going to slap me, and then took it back when my Private Investigator walked in. "Do we have a problem here?" My good friend, Hugo, was the type of guy that people always get to see on clubs, especially on their main entryways. But no, he's not bald, not that big either, and he's actually pretty charming. "Is he bothering you? Do you want me to get this guy worked up?"

"No need, Hugo. He was just leaving, right?" I motioned for the old lawyer to go away. I don't want my guy here to be filed an assault charge just because an old man is not happy about the result. "Ease up. We want clients, alright? We need not to scare them, 'kay? Everyone is looking at us right now."

"Well, you surely made a scene, and that means more clients."

"Damn straight."

"Dude, I was kidding. You just got your last case done. Don't you think we need a little vacation? Hmm?"

"Vacay?"

"Yep!"

"Dude, are you trying to make a move on me?"

"Please, you and me? Yuck!" His reaction was priceless. "You're disgusting, you know that?" Hugo tapped my shoulder twice. "I'm good with the free food and apartment. I won't ask for any booty, especially your ass." Hugo laughed hysterically while walking shoulder to shoulder with me. "And besides, I know I can get away with anything as long as you're my lawyer, so, why ruin that, right?"

"Good, 'cause I don't need some guy telling me what to do. I'm happy being intelligent and single. I'd like to keep it that way."
