Regina Mills had a typical morning routine. She would shower, dry her hair while wearing her towel, get dressed, and then do her makeup. So as she brushed out her freshly-cleaned, now-dry hair, she walked over to her closet to find something to wear. She picked out a simple pair of black pants, and her favorite blue button-up collared shirt.

She pulled her pants up over her cleanly-shaven legs, and pulled on her shirt. But as she started to button it, she realized it was much tighter than usual. Walking over to her mirror, she pulled off the shirt and turned sideways.

There it was.

A baby bump, clear as can be.

It was the first time she'd noticed it throughout her pregnancy so far. She was 12 weeks... that was about right. It was an odd change for Regina; something she knew was coming, but hadn't really planned for this quickly. She wondered what this would mean. Would people start treating her differently as mayor? Would they start questioning her judgment, or her ability to make decisions? She knew how absurd these questions were, but they floated around in her head relentlessly, poking and prodding at her every insecurity.

She looked at her face in the mirror. The worried look that stared back at her matched the irrational fear she felt inside her, and she placed her hand over her stomach, looking down at the small bump that was affecting her way more than she knew it should.

Then suddenly, a hand held hers over her stomach, and she felt a familiar warmth behind her. She looked up into the mirror and saw Emma's face peeking over her shoulder, smiling at her. Emma's arms were around Regina, and she placed her hands kindly on Regina's bump.

"It's going to be okay," Emma said quietly in Regina's ear. "I promise."

Regina smiled, her eyes watering, as she realized how ridiculous her worries had been. She had the most amazing person to help her through this. She turned her head to peek at Emma, and then turned fully around, holding the sheriff's hands in her own, and smiling. She leaned in, letting go of Emma's hands and holding her neck gently as their lips met. Emma's hands cupped Regina's face, and they kissed softly.

Regina never wanted to let go of this feeling. She knew, in this moment, that she never needed to worry. Emma was there for her, and always would be.
