Her poorly tied and wet combat boots made screeching noises on the plastic floor as she walked with fast and heavy steps. As she took a sharp turn between two bookshelves the boots screeched louder. She slowed her pace as she could got closer to the couch in one of the more secluded areas of the library. She tucked a stray strand of blue stripes behind her hair. When she could see the other girl she was meeting sitting in the couch with a book in her hands she stopped abruptly.
"You're blonde. Wh-Why are you blonde?" she asked, her jaw dropped. She knew the girl was naturally blonde but she hadn't seen it other than in pictures. She had only known the girl when she had pink hair. The blonde girl looked so unlike herself.
"Don't worry, Rachel, it's not staying like this for long. I'm thinking black. Maybe blue." The other girl said with a smile looking up from the book.
"I'm tired of pink." she added before looking down at the book again.
"But Quinn, I like the pink. It suits you." Rachel said, sitting down closely to Quinn on the couch. She leaned her head on Quinn's shoulder and sighed. A comfortable silence settled between them as it was obvious Quinn wasn't going to carry on the conversation regarding her hair right now. 10 minutes went by before Rachel broke the silence.
"Q, you're suppose to be with me not," she said and frowned looking down the book "not Alice." she finished, backing up a little to look at Quinn. "Are you seriously reading Alice in Wonderland?" she asked with a hint of a smile. Quinn closed the book, stroking the spine of it before putting it away on the white table next to the couch.
She looked at Rachel with a smile before closing the distance in a soft kiss. Both of them sighing a little of relief into it. Quinn kissed Rachel a little harder, cupping her cheek before Rachel pulled away.
"I thought you said we were going to study." Rachel said. They locked eyes, neither saying anything for seconds.
"We are. Maybe not homework, but we'll study." Quinn said, licking her lips and trying her luck. Rachel stood up slowly and stretched her hand out towards the now blonde woman.
"My dads aren't home so my place is quiet enough for studying. Or well, empty enough." Rachel said biting her lip. Quinn's smile broke into a grin as she grabbed her bag with one hand and Rachel's hand with the other. They started walking out of the library, both wearing combat boots that made heavy sounds every time they hit the floor. Hand in hand they walked past bookshelf after bookshelf.
"I love you." Quinn said
"I love you too." Rachel said.
