Rule #36
By: somedayisours
Summary: The dedicated their souls, their minds and lastly their bodies. But in the end was it worth it?
Time: After the Isobu and freaky-kid arc. Before anything major happens.

N/A: I wrote this only a few days after Rule #25 so it's been hanging around. I have tons more to post. A Slightly-AU Three-Shot will be posted soon. originally it was going to center around Kakashi but now it is Sai-Sakura-and-Kakashi-Centric.

Kakashi was beyond furious. How could she do that? To her own student no less...

He could barely think after finding out what had happened.

"Where's Sakura?"

Sai's face showed something close to guilt.

"She got called away on a top-secret mission!" Naruto exclaimed innocently. "Scarlet coloured scroll and everything!"

Kakashi considered crashing into the Hokages office and demanding answers for a moment, but quickly tossed the idea aside. She needed him more than his questions did, she needed someone, like he had.

He landed on her doorstep in record time, earing a few glares from passing civilians as he jumped from the roof of the building across the street onto her doorstep. He paused, his fist less than an inch from the door he could hear her sobs, ignoring the dread that roled in his gut he knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Came Sakuras voice.

"Kakashi."

"Go away," she said.

Shaking his head he let himself in away ways, telling her as he did so. "I'm coming in."

She was in the bathroom, furiously scrubbing away at herself, her skin rubbed raw, as if she were trying the peel it away with the bar of soap that she attacked her legs with. Kakashi could feel the similarity in it all.

Crossing the bathroom he easily avoided her clothes that were scattered along the floor, with what must have been on the now empty selves scattered around with the clothes.

grabbing her wrists to stop her from hurting herself any more he attempted the ignore the phrase she had been repeating since he entered: "It won't come off."

He turned the facet for her tub, his eyes still locked on her own emerald eyes, he plugged the drain and held her closely as the tub filled with warm water, her sobbing onto his shoulder.

"Talk to me Sakura." Kakashi said in an attempted to distract her, "I want to learn medical ninjutsu."

That seemed to get her attention, as she started explaining, the water quickly growing cold and the sun leaving the sky as she taught her Sensei.

It wasn't until past midnight that they descended into silence, Kakashi facing the door as Sakura lay in the cold water.

"That's why, isn't it? Why you...?"

Kakashi was silent, a lot of things contributed to his mental unbalance, his emotional scaring was tied to his lack of mother and so many others, he had always been emotionally handicapped, especially when it came to human interaction and bonds. "Yes." He could still remember just as clear as it had been yesterday, it had been him in the tub of a dark bathroom, but unlike Sakura he had no one, he had been fifteen and everyone that could have helped him was dead.

"It was Sai wasn't it?"

"Yes," was her short answer.

"He was the best choice." It was the truth, a Kunoichi wasn't able to be a virgin on a espionage mission. It was common that she would have her first time with a teammate before the mission. Sai was the best choice, he would not feel emotional attachments after, and would only see it as a mission.

Rule #36. A Shinobi/Kunoichi must give everything for the village. Their soul, their mind and their body.

There is something beautiful about all scars of whatever nature. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed and healed, done with.
