He's a She
The main hallway of the BBA building seemed such a long one, but maybe that was just because Julia was nervous. Rick from the All Starz had asked to see her. Alone. Julia didn't know what Rick wanted, but she did know that she had a slight crush on Rick. Just a slight, tiny crush.
Oh, all right. She had a huge crush on Rick.
That was probably why it seemed like it was taking an age to walk down that one corridor towards the room that she had arranged to meet Rick in. Julia had considered bringing Raul along, so she didn't feel so nervous, but decided against it. Nothing was more uncool than taking your twin brother along to a meeting with your crush.
When Julia did finally reach the door, she found she couldn't open it. Her hand was on the door handle, but she just couldn't push it down. It was like her whole body had frozen. She gritted her teeth, and prepared to push the handle down, but before she could, someone opened it from the other side.
She came face-to-face with Rick.
"Hi," Julia said, looking a bit red in the face.
"Hey," Rick replied. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to come."
"No... I just got... held up," Julia said.
"Sure," came a sceptical reply. "Come in, then. We need to talk."
"About what?" Julia asked as she walked into the room.
Rick shut the door, and said down on a chair, motioning for Julia to also sit down. She did so, feeling more awkward and nervous by the minute. Rick didn't answer Julia at first, just stared off into space. Julia thought that maybe Rick hadn't heard her, and decided to ask again.
"What do we need to talk about, Rick?"
Rick looked directly at her.
"I know you like me."
Julia turned scarlet.
"And I like you."
If it was possible, Julia turned even redder. She began playing with the ends of her hair, and even considered getting out her phone to pretend to text someone. That's what she always did in awkward situations. She decided not to, as it might have looked a bit rude.
"But there's a problem..."
"What sort of problem?" Julia asked.
"Well... I'm kind of... erm..."
"Kind of what? Married? Gay? Going to die?" Julia said. She found her suggestions quite amusing, but Rick apparently didn't.
"No. I'm a girl."
Julia was sure she hadn't heard Rick right. She stared into Rick's eyes for what felt like a long time, trying to see if he was being serious. When Rick didn't burst into laughter, or say it was a joke, Julia knew that he was telling the truth. Yet, she had to ask.
"Are you being serious?"
"Deadly."
"How long have you been a girl?"
"Since birth, duh. Only, you can't tell anyone. No one else except Judy knows."
"You don't look very feminine..."
"Yeah, well Tala Valkov doesn't look very masculine, but no one accuses him of not being male."
Julia continued to stare at Rick, still not quite believing that he, was in fact, a she. However, even with this new information about Rick, it didn't make Julia like him, or rather, her any less.
"What now?" Rick asked.
"I... don't know," Julia replied. "Hey, if you're female, then what is your real name?"
"Rosemary."
"Pretty..." Julia commented. "Well, I still like you. And I'm going to assume you still like me, so there's no reason why we can't get together."
"What will your brother think?" Rick asked.
"Who cares? He's too busy trying to woo Mathilda to care about anything else, anyway," Julia replied, getting up and sitting next to Rick.
"And Romero?"
"You're safe from him. He's too busy chasing the boys."
"We really do live in a mad, mad world..."
"We do. Now come here, and give me a snog."
+ A/N: Lamest ending ever.
