S.O.S. by Ness Ayton
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away a young farmboy named Luke Skywalker, having destroyed the forbidding Death Star, sent out a telepathic, intergalactic message for help.
And help came. Through the ages, across eons and from every universe it came.
On board Liberator Cally sensed the call and their linked minds pulled the ship through time and space; much to Vila's horror and against Avon's wishes.
On board Galactica the angels re-appeared and, without a "may we" or "by your leave", re-routed the great battlestar.
The USS Enterprise managed to steer itself into a black hole and emerged on the other side, sparks flying from its heated hull.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. automatically responded to the SOS taking the Doctor and his companion on a whirlwind tour through the galaxies.
These all assembled in the vicinity of a rather tatty freighter called The Millennium Falcon. On board this little ship three startled faces were watching the converging of these strange craft.
"What can they want?" whispered Leia.
"Can't imagine," replied Han Solo. Just then, from the surrounding ships, came the question.
"What is wrong? Why have we been summoned?"
"Just what we were wondering…." Han muttered under his breath and Chewie grunted in agreement. At this juncture Luke entered the cockpit.
"What's all this?" he wondered aloud. Then from the ships came another question.
"We have answered your distress call. What is the problem?"
Luke turned a delicate shade of pink.
"Oh dear," he said, "I think this is my fault." His three companions turned to look at him. "You see I was having trouble getting one of my boots off and …….."
The rest was lost as his three friends launched themselves at him.
"All I said was help," Luke stuttered defensively through a mouthful of Chewbacca's fur.
"Let's get out of here before they find out they've been summoned here under false pretences," Han suggested.
The Falcon leapt to hyper-space leaving the other ships staring silently into the void it had left.
