The Turnabout Visit
'Wow! I really like your sports car, sir!' detective Dick Gumshoe said and settled down in the passenger's seat.
'Thank you, detective,' Miles Edgeworth answered. 'When did you hear 'bout the incident with Kay, sir?'
'The police called me half an hour ago and told me everything,' Edgeworth said and started the engine.
'Here it is.' Mr. Edgeworth drove to the parking place at the hospital.
'I really hope she's ok.' Gumshoe sounded concerned. 'Yes, I hope so too, detective.'
After asking the room number at the reception, they took the elevator and walked through a long hallway.
'Sir! Here it is! Room 164!' Gumshoe pointed at the door and together they walked in.
'Sorry mister, but are you Kay's father? Because only relatives of the patient are allowed to enter the room,' a nurse said to Edgeworth.
'Well…' He needed to know what exactly happened to Kay and she was the only one who could tell him that. 'Yes, and this is my brother,' he said and sighed.
'Well then, she is awake. You can visit her.' The nurse put a pen in the pocket of her coat and walked away. 'I am Mr. Edgeworth his brother! Who could ever know!' Gumshoe laughed.
'Don't get any ideas, detective! It was the only way to see Kay here,' Edgeworth answered and sighed again.
It was a whole white room with two beds. In one there laid a boy, who was sleeping. The two walked towards Kay's bed. It seemed like she was asleep.
'I think she is asleep,' detective Gumshoe said.
'But the nurse said that she was awake.' Edgeworth sat down on a chair, which was standing next to the bed.
'Mr. Edgeworth! Gummy!' Kay shouted with excitement and sat straight down in her bed.
'K-kay?!' Edgeworth was startled of Kay's sudden reaction. 'How are you feeling? I heard what happened about an hour ago.'
'Yeah! Are you alright, pal?!' Gumshoe asked. Kay laughed.
'Yes, I'm fine. I only have a broken arm and a lot of bruises.' Gummy took another chair and sat down next to the bed as well. 'Haha, I heard the nurse asking if you were my dad!' she laughed hard.
'It seemed the only way we could visit you on the moment. My apologies,' Edgeworth answered and blushed a little.
'It's ok, don't worry!' She laughed again. Edgeworth gave Kay a soft smile.
'But Kay, tell me, how did this all happen? I want to hear your own story about this.'
Kay looked at the two men sitting on the chairs.
'I don't really remember. The only thing I remembered is falling of that roof.' She sighed.
'Was it an accident?' Gumshoe asked.
'Well, you know, I am the great thief Yatagarasu and with that occupation it is logical I am always careful on roofs. I can't just fall down. There must have been a reason that it happened.' Edgeworth nodded.
'Don't worry Kay. We will find out what happened, perhaps it was a trap and someone wanted you to fall.'
'A trap, Mr. Edgeworth?!' Kay asked with surprise.
'I am not sure of course. I have no evidence. But we will find out.'
'Yes sir! Everything will be alright, pal! No worries!' Gumshoe laughed and gave Kay a Swiss roll. She smiled.
'Thank you both for dropping by. And thanks for the Swiss roll, Gummy!' Kay laughed. 'No problem, pal!' Gumshoe had asked Edgeworth for money to buy a roll for her, and he agreed. But it wasn't that necessary to tell, right? Gumshoe thought. Edgeworth didn't say anything and ignored him.
'Take care of yourself, Kay. We will definitely come soon to visit you again.'
'Don't worry about me, Kay will be OK!'
The two stood up and looked one more time at the busy eating Kay before leaving the room.
