"Edward," she whimpered, clutching the sheets tightly in her fist. Her beautiful face twisted in pain as she called out His name.
"Edward, don't go… please…"
I sighed.
I pushed myself off her windowsill and climbed into bed with her. Her skin was cool but her forehead felt hot. I frowned and wrapped the sheets around her fragile body, and enveloped her in my arms. I hummed a soft song, one that reminded me of her. Her whimpers slowly decreased and she began breathing normally again.
I held her in my arms, studying her every feature. She had the cutest nose, followed by full lips which were very inviting every time she pouted. She had no hairline, and she often complained about it but I reassured her that she looks beautiful, no matter what. Her ears were adorable, and I love stroking her behind her ear. It makes her sigh in contentment and if we were sitting together, cuddling, she would move closer and rest her head on my chest.
I ran my fingers lightly through her hair. It was so smooth and soft; undamaged unlike most of the other girls I've met who had damaged their hair through bleaching and streaking them. I leaned forward to kiss her forehead gently. She mumbled something which I didn't quite understand, but then wrapped her arms around my waist and sighed softly. I smiled sadly, knowing that she wasn't dreaming about me.
It was always about him.
Edward Cullen. I didn't see what was so special about him. He was a vampire, and an enemy of my species. He does smell bad to us, but to humans, they were intoxicating. I have to be honest, and I'll openly admit this. The Cullen who I do not mind being around is Jasper, minus the smell. Esme Cullen was another one who I didn't really mind, but then again, she doesn't really like us either. I don't blame her.
Who can?
"Edward…"
I bit my lip, feeling warm tears forming in my eyes. I whispered, my voice shaky, "It's okay, Bella. I'm here."
She tightened her arm around my waist and a small smile appeared on her face. "I love you, Edward." I smiled sadly, and the tears fell.
"I love you too, my Bella," I swallowed back a sob, and kissed her cheek. She smiled again, and nuzzled into my chest. I stayed up till sunrise, and then it was time for her to get up for school.
"Bella, wake up," I shook her gently. She grunted and turned over. I smirked. Typical Bella, I thought. I got out of bed and threw the covers off her body. She groaned, but her eyes were still shut. "Edward…" she groaned, "Not yet. I'm tired."
I felt a small sharp pain in my chest. Nevertheless, I grabbed her ankles and dragged her off the bed, and pulled her up to her feet.
"Go get showered, and dressed. I'll wait for you outside."
"Outside?"
I closed my eyes, and opened them again, and said, "It's Jacob, Bella." Her eyebrows furrowed and she opened her eyes reluctantly, and gasped. Her jaw dropped a little and she covered her mouth with her hand. I smiled at her, trying to reassure her it's fine that she called me Edward. However, I knew she had seen the hurt in my eyes.
"Oh, Jacob!" she finally let out a sob, and sprung forward, wrapping her arms tightly around me. I did the same, and rubbed circles in her back, trying to soothe her and calm her down. I felt her tears soak my shirt, as she cried softly, "I'm sorry, Jake. I'm so sorry."
I mumbled in her hair, "It's fine, Bella. It's okay."
But the truth is, I'm not okay. Knowing that the girl I loved loves another hurt me really badly, and knowing she will never feel the same way towards me, the way I feel towards her rips my heart apart.
