Authors note: Hey guys! This is my first fan-fiction. I hope it's not all that bad. Please review! I really want to know what everyone thinks. This is just a prologue. I already have the first chapter halfway written, and I will post it when I get 5 reviews!

~A Dragon's Secrets~ Prologue:

On top of a small, barren hill there sits a house. One of the largest manors in the country, the building sits dark and foreboding in the shadows. One can almost feel the darkness emanating from the walls that enclose the area.

One day, a child was born in the house. After the babe was cleaned and dressed, it was quickly placed in a dark corner of the house, in a room that held only a cradle and a small table. There the child remained for many days, out of sight and mind. The only company the boy had was the occasional care from a sympathetic house elf.

Late one night, a person crept quietly into the room. Tip-toeing over to the cradle where the young boy lay, she slowly reached in and lifted him out of the basket.

Holding him close against her chest, the visitor walked over to the window. The moonlight shone down on the child's head, glistening off the thin golden hair, making it seem to glow in the darkness. Taking out her wand, the woman gently touched it to the boy's head. She closed her eyes, and whispered these words to the dark, empty room:

Born into wealth,

Yet in a house without love.

Destined for darkness

With no help from above.

I bring you three gifts,

That will help you to survive

Bring you through the horror,

And keep you alive.

The first one is hope.

With out it all's lost

Never lose faith

No matter the cost

The second is pity

It will let you believe

Help others in trouble

And help you will receive

The last is the ability

In another time and place

To one day love another

Though many terrors you will face.

Having ended the spell, the woman quickly withdrew her wand. Walking back over to the crib, the woman gave the baby one last kiss goodbye before tucking him under the blankets once more. "Good luck." She mumbled, as she quickly and carefully left the room, shutting the door behind her.

In the crib, Draco Malfoy slept peacefully, unaware of the drastic change the woman had just brought upon him and his future.
