One cloudless night in Rivendel, a young elf was awake.

"I shouldn't be long, I just want to check on our daughter" Elrond told his wife as he left their bedroom.

When Elrond reached his daughter's bedroom he slowly opened the door and stuck his head in the door. To Elronds surprise his daughter laid wide a wake with no trace of sleepiness upon her.

"Is everything alright?" asked Elrond as he waked toward his daughters beside.

Arwen sat up and looked her father in the eye and said, "Can I get a kitty?"

"Umm…ah…I…ah…" Elrond said with a look of surprise on his face.

"Oh, can I daddy, please. I will take good care of it, I promise," said Arwen with big puppy dog eyes.

"Umm…maybe you should ask your mother," said Elrond still unsure what his answer should be.

"I'll go now," said Arwen as she attempted to climb out of bed.

"No, your mother is very tired, we can talk tomorrow at breakfast," said Elrond as he put his daughter back into her bed.

"Ok" said Arwen as she lay back down and closed her eyes.

Elrond crept out of the room and closed the door lightly behind him. When he entered his own bedroom, he told his wife everything.

"So should we get her a cat for her birthday?" Elrond asking his wife as her approached her.

"We could do that, but would she take care of it?" asked Celebrian as she sat up in bed.

"Well I told her we were going to talk about this at breakfast" said Elrond as he climbed into bed with his wife.

"Alright then" said Celebrian as she lay back down beside her husband.

"Good night" whispered Elrond as he gave his wife a kiss.

It was quarter after eight when Arwen woke up. She snuck down the hall passing her brothers bedrooms being sure to not make a sound. When Arwen finally came to her parent's bedroom door she opened it as quietly as she could. Arwen crept across the floor to her parent's bed.

"WAKE UP!!" yelled Arwen as she jumped onto there bed.

"What, what, what's going on?" said Elrond as he fell out of bed.

Celebrian nearly let out a scream but when she saw the site of her husband on the floor in his underwear she let out a little giggle.

"Can we go and eat breakfast now?" asked Arwen with a big smile on her face.

"Oh alright, but maybe you should help your father up" said Celebrian as she climbed out of bed and walked over to Elrond.

Elrond, Celebrian, Arwen and her older twin brothers went to breakfast. Each person ordered their own meal and began eating.

"So can I get a kitty?" asked Arwen as she handed the elf her plate.

"Well your father and I have been thinking and well-"

"I can!" shouted Arwen as she jumped from her seat.

"I didn't say yes"

"Then what's your answer?" asked Arwen getting impatient.

"Well…our answer is…no."

"What? why??"

"We don't think you are responsible enough to have a pet yet."

"Fine…" cried Arwen as she ran to her room, eyes full of tears.

"So…since we're talking about pets can we get one?" asked Elladan as Elrohir gave a big smile.

"No." said Elrond slamming his fist down on the table, "If you two get a pet then Arwen will have to get one, you two will just have to wait until Arwen is older."

Later that day Arwen thought of a brilliant Idea.

"Since I am Grandma Galadriel and Grandpa Celeborn's only granddaughter…they can't cay no to my request!" whispered Arwen as she pulled out a piece of parchment.

Arwen soon had a letter written out, being sure not to mention anything about her parents saying no.

"When they come for my birthday they can give me my kitty," giggled Arwen evilly, "Mommy and daddy won't know about anything."

Arwen snuck out of her room and gave her letter to the messenger who took off immediately for Lorien.
