Chapter 1
It looks a lot difference without the heartless...
Sora strolled through the borough of Hollow Bastion, attentive and carefree, his mind flush with memories of his crusades against the heartless and nobodies; against Ansem and the Organization. He had battled his best friend, fought the 1000 heartless, survived the onslaught of the One-Winged Angel and even had his first unwitting encounter with the Lord of Nobodies himself, Xemnas in this world alone. A light frown crossed his face; He had spent more time in Hallow Bastion with his keyblade in hand than he would have liked, but what more was to be expected from the stronghold that had played host to such malevolent figures?
His train of thought was cut off as he saw a mysterious figure jumping across one of the many rooftops that lined Hollow Bastion's residential sector. The moonlight gave him only a fleeting glimpse of the individual, clad in black attire, but he was unable to make out their face. He hurried himself, beginning a light jog through the streets as he attempted to catch up to the target of his curiosity – and his suspicion.
He arrived at a crossroad in the paving and looked for any hint of a presence that was not his own. He made his way on top of one of Hollow Bastion's many houses, trying to keep his movements as silent and subtle as he could. He gazed intently into the night, searching for any trace of the figure that piqued his interest only moments ago, seeking any shred of movement that might point him in the right decision.
In the distance he saw a brief flash as something metal reflected in the dimly lit borough, and he quickly began to move, leaping across the numerous rooftops that provided him the path to his target, trying to keep sight of them as he went. They were quick, quicker than he was but he persevered, running as fast as he could as his eyes adjusted to the night and he squinted, trying to get a better view of the figure. It seemed as though his focus was poorly misplaced, as he began to stumble, losing his footing and falling onto the paving below with an audible thud and a louder yelp of pain. Trying to listen beyond the blunt agony that coursed through his body from the impact, he heard a rustling above him. It seemed as though his unknown friend had become aware of his presence, and was no doubt coming to see who was chasing them down.
The mysterious figure looked down at him from a nearby rooftop, and Sora rubbed his eyes to meet their gaze.
"Sora?" A familiar voice yelled down to him, "Are you alright? You must not have been as good as you thought!"
Of course, it was Yuffie...
