Dean Winchester sat at a grungy, dirty bar a block away from the grungy, dirty motel he was staying at in a grungy, dirty, tiny town somewhere in Ohio. Sam had dragged Dean there to investigate a few deaths that he was sure were "our kinda thing, Dean." After two days of fake I.D's, interviews, breaking in, and lots of research with no results, Dean gave up. He finally escaped his little brother to grab a drink and maybe a hookup, but he had rejected every cute girl who had been eyeing him. True, he was lonely, but the idea of a one-night stand with another random girl didn't seem like the kind of thing that would make him feel better.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
Dean's cell phone ran in his pocket, bringing him out of his reverie.
"'Lo?" he mumbled.
"Hello, Dean. Where are you?" It was Cas.
"Oh, uh, hey Cas. Good to hear from you too. I'm at some bar in Ohio, why?"
"I just wanted to say hello." Castiel said.
Dean almost dropped his phone in surprise.
"Jesus, Cas," he said, looking at the angel who had just appeared next to him. "You can't do that in public, man! What are you, crazy?" Castiel frowned.
"I am sorry, Dean. I'll try to remember that." He looked around curiously, like a small puppy in a strange place. "Why are you at this loud place? It smells fairly unpleasant and you look unhappy."
Dean smiled to himself. He remembered when these kinds of questions used to irritate him, but now he found them rather endearing.
"Well, that's a good question, Cas." He replied. A busty red-haired girl at the bar was watching Castiel, apparently very interested in him.
"Dean, why is that woman staring at me like that?" she was now winking and waving. "Well, Cas, I think she likes you." He replied, amused. The girl hopped off her stool and walked over.
"Hey there, cutie." She said with another wink. Dean suddenly felt very warm, and it took him a moment to register the feeling as jealousy.
"Thank you for the compliment." Cas muttered, turning slightly pink. She didn't seem to find the angel odd in any way, and if she did, she found it adorable.
Each minute was worse than before for Dean, and it wasn't until the girl offered to "get outta here" with Cas that he put his foot down. "Actually, we have to go." He growled, grabbing Castiel's arm and steering him outside.
"Goodbye," Cas called over his shoulder. "That wasn't very polite, Dean." He said with a slight frown. "What's wrong? You look troubled."
Dean sighed out of pure irritation as he slid into the driver's seat of the Impala. Cas put his hand on Dean's when he sat down, looking very concerned. Dean looked down. He enjoyed the warmth of Cas's skin on his; he found comfort in it.
"I'm sorry," Castiel said, pulling his arm away. "Does that bother you?"
"Uh, yeah." Dean coughed to cover the lie. "Personal space, man."
Moments later when they arrived at the motel, Dean found a note on the bed.

Went out to the library. Think I got something.

"Well, I supposed it's just you and I, Dean." Cas said brightly as he sat down on the bed. "May I ask you something?"
"Sure," Dean said.
"Why did the woman at the bar upset you so much?"
Dean ran his fingers through his hair. "Ah, I dunno Cas. I just got a little...I dunno. Jealous, I guess." He mumbled, very uncomfortable.
To his surprise, Castiel chuckled.
"Well, that's just silly! You're the only person I could ever love." He said, completely unabashed.
Dean stared.
"I…uh, what?"
"I love you, Dean." He repeated, still smiling.
Cas leaned over and kissed Dean lightly on the lips. Dean grinned.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? I've been dying to do that." Dean leaned in for another kiss…
An hour later, Sam returned to a locked motel room and a 'Do Not Disturb' sign.
