Some of them want to use you,

Some of them want to abuse you.

~ Emily Browning "Sweet Dreams"

The wind blew through her hair as her arms flailed through the air. It was as if she were descending in slow motion. Her expression was nothing short of frightened with her mouth wide, only hearing her pleads for assistance.

It's said that in that last moment before Death takes its victim, life flashes before that victim's eyes. From the first memory they could remember to the last defining moment.

For Hermione Granger, it started with a smile. The brightest smile that she could have ever seen as a child. It belonged to her father. He and his wife were the local dentists, so their smiles were nothing but bright. But Hermione saw something else in his smile that made them brightened. It was the life and joy he would have when he smiled at her; it gave Hermione hope that she would smile at someone like that one day.

Now she wouldn't see it again. The next thing to come to Hermione's mind were tears; the first time she cried at Hogwarts. She was disheartened by Ron's words about her that she felt she didn't deserve to be there. Her tears drenched the front of her robes, but Hermione told no one about it. Not even after the boys had saved her, she didn't tell them. It was her burden to bare, so they didn't need to hear her problems. They never listened to her problems.

She did everything for them, and those memories of the many times she brought them solutions ran through her thoughts like a movie. It ended with her current predicament, attempting to save Ginny from taking her own life because of the loss of Fred.

Ginny was standing at the top of Hogwarts Castle, trembling with fear but determined to end her suffering. Hermione had set her wand down in order to not give the girl incentive to jump. They fought, and she slipped. With no wand to save her and no one else around, Hermione didn't have a choice but to fall to her death.

Hermione wouldn't feel the impact of the rocks. It was a swift landing to an ending made too soon. She was too good for them, giving back when she didn't have to, proving herself when she shouldn't have to, and loving others when it wasn't returned.

...oo0oo...

Her eyes opened, and Hermione gasped, sitting up in the four poster bed. She looked around and clutched her chest, fearing that she was gone from the world. When she saw the other girls sleeping in their beds, Hermione let out a breath.

It felt so real to Hermione, but that wasn't her ending. Perhaps it was a sign for a new beginning.
