"Helen we're going to be late!" Will screams out from the bottom of the staircase, tapping his foot without proper tempo.
"I'll be right there; hey where's the quilt?" Comes the response muttered slightly by the distance.
"It's in the car, now come on!" Moments slide by, his impatience grows but he holds his tongue from demanding her appearance again. Finally Helen appears at the top of the landing; joint together they retreat to the driveway and the car
"Holly Rae? Is that the name they decided on?" Will questions stopped at a red light.
"Yeah that's right. I think it's pretty."
"If you say so Helen. Isn't Rae a boy name?"
"It's both actually. Yeah don't ask. Least it's better than Jupiter." Will burst out with laughter, Helen joins in quickly.
"Jupiter?! Like the planet and Greek God?"
"That's the one and it's a Roman God not a Greek."
"Whatever."
"Well as I said I like it. Holly Rae it's pretty simple and full of life. Just like they are. Don't you agree hon?" He nods his answer still chuckling softly to himself. Helen leans around in her seat stumbling with a large shopping bag laying on the floor pulling out a hand crocheted quilt and bringing it to her lap.
"Can you believe in just a few hours from now we will be grandparents?" Helen asks herself more so than Will.
"No I can't. I'm too young to be a grandfather. Grandfathers use canes, need to rent motorized carts to get around in stores. They have gray hairs and always start stories with when I was your age. Certainly not an accurate portrait of me."
"Well apart of it fits." She tells him with a giggle while brushing the side of his head.
"Hey!"
"Just telling how it is sweetie. I can't believe it either. I thought by the time this day arrived I would be ready and completely acceptable to it. I suppose it just as sunk it quite yet." The ride went on in silence both locked in their owns thoughts and trying to come to an understanding and a place of peace with everything. Fully aware in a handful of hours when the baby is presented for them to admire, everything will place together perfectly and change. Were they truly ready for that change in life? Will pulls into the parking lot of the hospital, circles around a few times, muttering out loud about the lack of spaces and at last finds one, pulling the car in it.
"It's now or never huh?" Will says to his wife as he takes a hold of her hand. Which she squeezes tightly a nervous yet excited smile on her face.
"Well let's go grandpa. I think I am ready to meet Holly Rae."
"Yeah me too grandma me too."
