Arthur read was coming back from school. He was as happy as he could be. It was Spring Break, and he had an entire WEEK off of school. He had seen a BUNCH of people having tons of fun at the beach, but Elwood City was not a beach town, but a harbor town. He had only been to the beach a few times, but he always used Buster's swimming pool. The problem was Buster's dad didn't open his pool until Memorial Day, which was in May. He said to Buster, "I have an idea. Buster, we are going to have a Spring Break Party!"
Once he got hone, he went to his room and onto Facebook. He told all his friends (Buster, Muffy, Francine, Brain, and Binky) to meet at Salmon Wharf at 3:00 A.M. that night. They were going to have some fun.
That night, Arthur woke up, tiptoed downstairs, and opened the door gently so it didn't creak. Then he went into his garage and found his bike. He also got a flashlight and a toolbox just in case. He snuck the bike outside through the side door, for he didn't want to make a racket with the garage door. He slid the toolbox into his backpack, along with a welding torch, mounted his bike, put his feet on the pedals and rode off into the darkness. The streets were unusually empty at this time of night. He rode to Salmon Wharf, which was twenty blocks away. He passed dark shops, a couple 24-hour fast-food joints, through the ghetto, which was creepier at night and finally, to the wharf. Three people were there. He saw the silhouettes of Binky, Buster, and Brain. "Apparently, Muffy and Francine aren't coming," said Brain. "So, what are we doing?" asked Buster.
We…are having fun." said Arthur. "What kind of fun?" asked Binky. "Follow me," said Arthur.
Arthur led them to a large ship that read on a smokestack, The Elwood City Express. He led his group up a twisting ramp and in front of a closed gangway door. Arthur turned on his flashlight. He opened his toolbox and looked at the sliding rail. To detach it, he'd need a Phillip's head. He got the screwdriver out and started to unscrew the rail. The first screw fell into the water. Then another, and another, and another…
Five minutes later, the door fell into the sea. It landed with a huge splash that made Buster jump a foot into the air; he wasn't paying attention. He landed so hard on the gangplank that it rattled. Suddenly, Arthur saw a flashlight beam that wasn't his own. He ran onto the ship and dived behind a food stand. He turned off his flashlight. Buster, Binky, and Brain followed. They heard footsteps. Then the footsteps faded. Arthur peeked up from the counter. "All clear." he said.
The four of them snuck out. They went upstairs onto another deck. There, they heard more footsteps. The four hid in a bathroom stall and waited. The footstep did not fade. The guard got closer and closer; he opened the door, and stopped. He looked in the mirror, wiped a stain off his uniform, and exited. The footsteps then faded. They went up to the sun deck, and ran to the bridge. He opened the door, and ran into it. He then locked the door.
"Brain, can you do me a favor?' asked Arthur. "Sure, I'll do anything." he replied. "Can you start up the engines?" asked Arthur. "WHAT?" replied Brain. "You start big boat. You good." Arthur said.
"You don't have to talk to me as if I'm an idiot," said Brain. "Then start it up and drive it."
Brain pushed some buttons and flicked a few switches, and suddenly, the deck started to vibrate. He pulled a lever, and a faint roar filled the bridge. They felt the ship move. Once it was out of the dock, the ship started to yaw toward the harbor exit. Brain turned on the throttle. The ship lurched foreword. A minute later, they were at sea.
Arthur heard a thunderous bang behind him. Six guards were at the door. They-were screwed.
