She awoke with a start to the sound of glass shattering in her kitchen. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself. Sure, some people would be shaking in her boots at the thought of a burglary, but those people didn't have level three hand-to-hand combat training. She battled the Gou'ld and the Ori. One burglary should be an easy challenge.

Armed with a 9mm in hand, she slowly stalked down the stairs. She was still hearing noises coming from the kitchen area, so chances were that they were still searching for items in there. She positioned herself on the side of the kitchen's swinging door so that when they finally made their way out of the kitchen, the door would conceal her from view. Now, all she had to do was wait.

Ten minutes later, a lone man makes his way from the kitchen into the dining room. She can tell that her position has not been made. She aims the 9mm at the man's foot, not wanting to fatally wound him, and succeeds. The man, with a look of complete and utter shock, falls the the floor in agonizing pain.

"What the hell, lady?"

"Hey, you're the one trying to steal my stuff."

"Who the hell are you, anyways? That shit I saw on your computer doesn't even look human."

Her mind registers to the laptop she left on her kitchen island before she went to bed for the night. She had been working on some algorithms for a new artifact SG-5 brought back from PX9-579. No, it definitely wasn't human. She started laughing.

"Ah, so I see that you're in for more than you even know. The police aren't going to cut it any more, and that would have been your easy way out."

A half hour later, Brig. Gen. Jack O'Neill walks in to find shackled to a dining room chair and Carter gingerly eating a bowl of ice cream. He could see the man shuttering at his military uniform.

"Had an interesting night, Carter?"

"Well, a fun one at that."

"Oh, I'm sure of that. Is this the guy?"

Jack's eyes notice for the first time the neatly bandaged foot. Only Carter would shoot a man and then dress his wounds.

"Nice. Alright, boys, take him away. Jackson and Teal'c are waiting at the SGC for the interrogation."

The man's eyes shot up at that.

"Interrogation?"

"That's right, buddy boy. Nobody messes with our Carter, here, and gets away with it."

He waited until the boys were done loading up the captive and driving away before he pulled her into his arms.

"You okay, Carter?"

"Yeah. After facing an Ori Prior, this guy doesn't scare me at all."

"That's my girl."

" I'm just surprised to see you here instead of Landry."

"Yeah, well. I was on base for that briefing tomorrow, and Landry thought I would like to handle this one."

He pulled her even closer against his chest.

"Did I mention how much I really like that guy?"

He pulled her into a welcomed kiss before leading her back to bed for the night. They both had an early day tomorrow.
