He caught just a glimpse of her in the courtroom. She was even more beautiful than he remembered. Nearly six weeks apart had felt like an eternity to him. She carried herself with the grace and strength that he had always found so captivating. Her confidence was beautiful and he was glad to see that all that time undercover had not robbed her of it.
He waited for her outside after her testimony. Her eyes found his instantly in the crowd and she made her way towards him as if drawn by some unseen force. She stopped only mere inches from him "Hi," she whispered and he knew that that word was all she could manage to say at that moment.
"We need to talk," Elliot told her as he took her hand and led her off away from the crowd. He tried to maintain some outer semblance of professionalism while countless eyes watched from the streets. They reached his car and he opened the passenger side door for her. He got in and started to drive.
It was silent in the car for a long time before she spoke "Listen," she began, afraid that he would never forgive her for what she assumed she must have done "I'm sorry I hung up on you."
He almost laughed. Did she really think he gave a crap about that in the long run. It had made him afraid for her safety of course but no more than he had been the entire time. Besides it wasn't as if he could say all the things that he wanted to tell her in the middle of the squad room. He stopped the car and got out. She followed without being asked to. He opened the door of his house and led her inside. In the entry way, he turned to her and reached a hand out to stroke her cheek "It's really you," he murmured.
She nodded "Elliot, I'm so-"
He wrapped his arms around her and held her close "Thank God," he whispered as the tears he had been holding back since the courthouse finally spilled over "You have no idea how much I missed you," he told her.
Olivia couldn't hold back her tears now either "I missed you too," she buried her face in his shoulder and sobbed "I wanted so many times to pick up the phone and call you," she admitted "And then when I finally got the chanceā¦" she gripped him tightly "I'm so sorry."
"Don't apologize," he told her with a gentle finger placed over her lips "I'm just so glad that you're here now," he removed his finger and replaced it with his lips in a gentle kiss.
She returned the kiss and it soon deepened. The two of them made their way to Elliot's couch where he sat, pulling her into his lap. The kiss didn't break until several seconds later. She laid her head on his shoulder "It was so lonely," she whispered half to herself.
"I know," his lips just barely grazed her earlobe "I never want to be apart from you for so long again," he shifted so that she slid off his lap and sat beside him "I love you Olivia Benson."
She smiled and took his left hand with her right one, letting their locked fingers rest between them. She lifted her head and with another lingering kiss she whispered "I love you too Elliot Stabler and I'll never leave you again."
THE END
A/N: Just a little something to erase the bad taste of previews from everyone's mouths and add a little fluffy goodness to what was already a wonderful episode. I hope you all liked it. Please review.
