Dear Diary,
We were married today. Since he's leaving tomorrow because of the war, we couldn't have a honeymoon. He promised that when he comes back, he'll take me to Hiroshima, where I was born. Because of the war, we made love at our house, instead. He's lying next to me now, sleeping. I'd never as complete as I did when he slipped into me. I didn't cae when he pulled out. I was full, full of love.

Dear Diary,
He left earlier today. He told me that he would come back safely, and in one piece. I have nothing else to write. I miss him too much.

I got a letter from his commander today. He's... he's dead. The only ship that was shot down was his. Here's the letter, word for word:

I am sorry to inform you that your husband was killed on the seventh of this month in a brutal display of American retaliation. Your husband was a good fighter and an all together good man. I am sorry to have to tell you this.
Commander Tanaka
All they found was a picture of him and me on our very first date, floating among the blackened debris of the S.S.R Naraku. Quite a fitting name for the boat he died on. Remember, whoever reads this, that I...
The rest of the page was obscured by a mixture of blood and tears. Sango Suzuki, or Mrs. Miroku Ito, commited suicide on the night of December 14, 1941, at 10 p.m.
Their graves are side by side.
And this story was a playdown on true events of WW2. Any American who hates me now can tell me.
