Impugned Honour

Summary: Inuyasha deals with an impudent demon lord, Sesshoumaru deals with an insolent human, Kagome deals with an innocent half-demon. And not one of them got it right...
"Die you bastard!" Inuyasha screamed at the top of his lungs as he swiped Tetsusaiga toward his elder half-brother.
Sesshoumaru barely dodged the unexpected attack, narrowly managing to avoid a rehash of his first two encounters with the wrong end of the mighty sword. Regrouping his thoughts quickly, Sesshoumaru leaped toward his brother in a streak of calculating fury, wondering what in all hells had provoked the half-breed this time. He hadn't so much as seen the whelp in weeks.
Inuyasha was ready for Sesshoumaru's attack, blocking the swipe expertly.
The half-breed was improving.
What a pity.
"What the fuck did you do to Kagome, you dumb fuck?!" Inuyasha demanded of his half-brother, his sword still proffered like an oversized
Kagome...? That inept priestess who followed Inuyasha around? The one he had recently seen naked at the edge of a hotspring while he was naked inside of said hotspring?
Oh... that...
It concerned Sesshoumaru not, that his half-brother knew of the incident at the hotspring – they had merely been accidentally naked in each other's presence. What concerned Sesshoumaru was the implication in Inuyasha's voice: that he had done something... with a human.
Sesshoumaru skirted the edge of another blast from Tetsusaiga, his stoic non-response seeming to enrage the half-breed whelp just as surely as any insult could. His ire provoked, Sesshoumaru waited for the opening he knew would come... and skipped it in favour of another unforeseen opportunity.
Darting toward his new target before Inuyasha could even turn on his heel, Sesshoumaru had her pinned by the neck against a tree.
"Raise your weapon and the human dies," Sesshoumaru growled as he sensed the huntress gear up for an attack. Satisfied by the way they backed away from him, Sesshoumaru focused his rage on the one who had dared impugn his reputation. "Tell me why I should not slit your throat, human."
The woman's eyes grew huge at his threat and he did not like the idea that his name would not be cleared if her head were to explode from shear terror. Easing back just enough to not be apparent to the others, he stared steadily into her rapidly blinking eyes.
Sesshoumaru saw the understanding in her eyes and narrowed his own, barely resisting the urge to crush her windpipe within his grasp.
"I told him nothing happened. He didn't believe me!" the woman whispered hoarsely.
"Hn." Sesshoumaru could not scent deception on the human.
The whelp had overreacted.
So too, it seemed, had Sesshoumaru.
Releasing the human's throat from his grasp, Sesshoumaru leaped over his half-brother in a single bound before whirling on his heel.
"Trust these words, whelp," the youkai's voice boomed aloud for all to hear. "If this Sesshoumaru had wanted to do something, she would not have wanted to return to such inattentive company."
Kagome stood slack-jawed against the tree at her back.
Had Sesshoumaru just told his brother: "Once you go inu, you never go back"?
Without thinking, Kagome did what came most natural when facing an arrogant dog.
"Sit boy!"
Kagome's wide-eyed mortification was enough to draw out a smirk from the demon lord.
