"Please," He repeated for the hundredth time, staring Orielle down. "I need your help. I know you don't like sneaking around or keeping secrets but before I tell you what it is I need yourword."

The other brunette shook her head furiously. "P-Pipit you're not making sense… you're asking me to make a promise to you to lie to Karane..? And you won't even tell me what I'm lying about!" She looked like she was nearly ready to burst into tears.

"I know the circumstances are awkward, but please, Orielle. You know I would never ask you to make such a promise if it wasn't with good cause."

She folded her hands and looked at the dirt, sighing quietly. "…You promise..? It's a good cause..?"

Pipit smiled at her and put his hand on her shoulder. "It's absolutely a good cause. You just have to promise to do as I say, never tell Karane about our agreement, or why you're doing what I say, and… also trust me."

Once more Orielle looked like she was one push away from breaking. "A-Alright…"

Pipit smiled at her, stepping back and crossing his arms over his chest. He leaned down and whispered into into her ear. It was like magic, the shock on her face which melted into a smile, which melted into a blush and a giggle. Then she looked up at him with her bright eyes and nodded her head. "Of course I'll do that for you!"

"…My ring size?" Karane repeated Orielle's question aloud. "What for?"

Orielle didn't even flinch in her lie. She'd rehearsed it, with Pipit, a few times. He was pretty good at pretending to be Karane. She almost giggled aloud at the memory of Pipit mocking her stance, with his fists on his hips, and raising his voice to mimic hers while he went on a cute rampage about Mallara.

"My mother has some rings she doesn't want, I wondered if maybe some of them fit you? We could go out and get dressed up! It should would impress Pipit~!" She giggled.

Karane just raised her eyebrow. "I have chubby fingers." She answered smoothly. It was from cracking her knuckles and using the sword. "So I wear a size seven."

"On your left ring finger? Or right?"

"…" She looked back. "Both… my hands are the same size… Does it matter?"

"Nope~!" She giggled softly again. "Just curious. I wear a five! I have skinny fingers! Oh, hey, I'm uh…" She paused thoughtfully. "I'm going to run home for a minute, and see if any of those rings are a size seven, alright? See you sooonnnn~!" She waved and took off, leaving a very confused red head standing in the square to ponder why she'd just told her ring size to Orielle—and why the girl was running towards the academy and not her home.

Orielle was an awful liar…

But when she was able to contribute, in some way, to the engagement of her favorite couple… Well she was elated.
