Yearbook
It was the last day of Hogwarts in Ginny Weasley's fifth year. In fact, she was sitting at the end of the year feast right now. Professor Dumbledore was giving his usual end of the year speech, but this year he had a special announcement.
"This year," Dumbledore said, "I have decided to order yearbooks for each student and staff member. The yearbooks are complete with pictures of everyone in addition to some candid shots. You have the next hour to get your yearbooks signed." He and all the other professors started to pass out the thick booklets. Everyone chatted excitedly as they awaited their yearbooks. Once each person had one, they raced around, getting signatures of their fellow classmates.
Ginny walked around, writing various messages in people's yearbooks.
"Neville- good times. Have an awesome summer.-Ginny"
"Jeannie- Have a great summer, see you next year.-Ginny"
After about forty five minutes, Ginny turned to her friend Brenda.
"Well, I think I got everyone." She said. "Let's head up to the dorm." But she knew she hadn't got signatures from exactly everyone. Her eyes fell on the black haired boy sitting about twenty feet away. Jack saw her looking at him and got up. He began walking toward her, open yearbook and quill pen in hand. When he reached Ginny, she took his yearbook wordlessly. She stood for a minute, thinking what she could possible write. She remembered last summer…
The sign said "Gringotts- Wizarding Bank" Ginny was standing outside the big, grey building waiting for the rest of her family to get done with their errands so they could go eat lunch after a long day of shopping for school supplies at Diagon Alley. She was sitting on the wooden bench, shaded from the hot summer sun, when someone sat down beside her, Ginny turned to look at the person. It was that very cute boy from the year ahead of her. Ginny had seen him around school.
"Hello." She said. He nodded at her.
"You're Ginny Weasly, aren't you?" Ginny nodded; a little embarrassed that she didn't know his name. "I'm Jack Sonhuerto." He told her. They shook hands. Then Jack invited her to go get an ice cream. Ginny eagerly accepted.
Now it was fall. Ginny's fifth year, the first school dance of the year. She was slow dancing with Jack, her new boyfriend. They danced all night then stayed up in the common room talking. At midnight they snuck outside to play in the fallen leaves. It was childish, but that's what happens when you're in puppy love.
Ginny sprinted through the yard, dodging snowflakes. Her hand was clung to Jack's. They raced to the building, late for class. They reached the Potions room, cheeks flushed from the change of temperature.
"Well, this is my stop," Ginny said as she kissed Jack goodbye before he headed to his Charms class.
It was the earliest of Spring. The snow was mostly melted, except for a few leftover patches. Ginny and Jack were sitting under a big oak tree. Ginny looking extremely sad.
"So that's it, you're breaking up with me?" she asked him, voice quivering. Jack looked away. A tear rolled down the young girl's cheek.
"It just has to be this way, Gin," He got up and walked away, leaving her under the tree.
Ginny finished her reminiscing and started to write.
"Jack- You were my first real boyfriend. Thanks for all the great times. –Ginny"
