:::
Wyldon slowly regained consciousness as the morning sun streamed through the window. He tried to force himself out of bed, but he found it incredibly difficult. Despite the blinding sunlight, it felt as if it was the darkest day of winter. He rolled over in a bout of hope, a desire for it all to be a dream. But nothing had changed overnight; Vivienne was still gone forever.
He had been living in a haze over the past few days, if it could be considered living at all. Vivienne's death had come as a shock to all, a terribly sudden occurrence. It took Wyldon weeks before he was able to hold his sword steadily again, but he insisted that he continue his duties as a knight. Duty was the only concept that kept Wyldon sane; it gave him a sense of stability that he needed through the most difficult period of his life.
Slowly but surely the darkness faded from Wyldon's life, leaving solely a gloomy atmosphere around him. It was years before Wyldon was able to completely erase his depression, and even then there was still the smallest tint of dread. But it was not Wyldon that healed himself, but the gentle voice and touch beside him. It was Keladry who saved Wyldon from himself, and it was her who showed Wyldon that life could go on, even after the darkest times.
Looking back years later, Wyldon realized that if it had not been for Keladry's love and support, he would still have been in that impenetrable fog.
This was my first go at W/K...let me know how I did! :D
