Kyoko had changed ever since they parted ways over a year ago, and maybe Sho felt a little guilt over the pain he inflicted to his childhood friend. Well, he would feel guilt if he didn't like the new version of Kyoko. Sure, when her demons came out she was scary as all hell. But he saw his childhood friend with new eyes after having seen her as both an angel and as Mio. The old Kyoko didn't have such depth to her back then. Kyoko was never a head-turner, but now she was, or at the very least, had the potential. While part of Sho enjoyed the fact that he 'owned' such a classic Japanese beauty, another part was threatened by the fact that she had attracted the attention of a certain movie star. And while the old Kyoko knew how to say things that placated and stroked his ego, the new Kyoko said things to make him face the ugly truth and confront it.
Sho had taken for granted how he could be himself around her, he had an image to maintain, and while he wouldn't change his celebrity for anything, he missed being able to shed that image and be himself with the person who knew him best. But it bothered him when Kyoko announced to Vie Ghoul to not associate words like 'passion and love between them.' And he certainly wasn't feeling happy when Kyoko announced how she was the one to make him feel fear and despair, even though he had been the one to throw down that particular challenge. Due to Kyoko's grudge towards him, Sho maintained the large existence he had inside of Kyoko to the extent that Kyoko didn't realize that guy's feelings, and he wasn't about to let ANYONE surpass him. Eventually she would be a woman beyond the reach of most men, and when that time came, Sho would reclaim her as his. He knew that it would take a lot effort to change Kyoko's hatred back into love, but if Ren Tsuruga had been able to turn Kyoko's dislike into respect, then Sho would be able to make Kyoko love him again. Sho couldn't wait to beat Tsuruga in two counts: being the most popular man in show biz and winning Kyoko.
