Secret Window Sequel: Somewhere Lost in Tennessee
Chapter 1: The Dream
Now that Amy and Ted were dead, and Shooter didn't exist anymore, Mort Rainey figured that he had no more problems. He went, like he always did, and lied down on the famous Mort couch to take a nap.
He was having a very pleasant dream that was very detailed. It was about a girl named Claire. She was a very sweet girl. She had a fair complexion and Strawberry blonde hair. She was a cashier in a gas station near Mort's house, the one that was overlooking Tashmore Lake. She was single and just a year or two younger than Mort. He walked through the front door of the bookstore. He glanced over at the small table next to the bookshelves labeled 'XYZ.' She was sitting and reading the book "Everybody Drops the Dime." He wanted to go and talk to her, but instead he just went to look at books on the next bookshelf and stared at her.
You could tell by the smile he had on his pale face that he enjoyed the dream. Too bad it was only a dream, but Mort didn't care. He was just focused on her. Sadly, the horrible ringing of the telephone awoke him. He tried to ignore it, but he realized that he usually unplugs the phone during his naps. "Shit, why didn't I unplug the damn thing?" Mort said aloud. Now he was awake. "The best dream I've had in years, and its ruined because of this shitty phone call!" He exclaimed in distress after he was too late to answer the phone. "I knew I should have bought an answering machine!" "But then I would have to listen to all of their people and their shitty problems!" Listen to me! I'm going crazy, again, I'm talking to myself!" He said while walking over to the refrigerator to get a Mountain Dew.
Everyone had forgotten about the incident that happened three years ago. Everyone except for Mr. Rainey, that is. Of course, he thought that since everyone else had forgotten it, it never happened. Mort was still a lonely, single man.
A few months later… In the grocery store, he saw the girl of his dreams, literally. She was a girl with a fair complexion, light blue eyes, and strawberry blonde hair. He couldn't believe his eyes. He blinked a few times."Shit." He said. Is this really happening? He thought. Yes it is. He thought, answering himself. That wonderful dream was coming true. He tried not to be rude and stare, but he couldn't help himself. Shit Mort. You have to focus! He thought to himself. He turned the corner. He didn't know that she had turned the corner too. But you'd think he would have, considering he just kept staring at her.
Bump….Crash!
"Shit, I'm so sorry." He said as he ran into her, not paying attention. He didn't realize it was her until he finally looked up. He gasped for air as he bit his lower lip.
"Oh God. I'm so sorry." The young girl said while looking into Mort's eyes
"That's ok. Hello. My name is Mort Rainey." He said as he put his hand out to help her get up.
"My name is Tennessee Smith. Weird name. I know." She said as she reached for his hand.
"No. I think it's a beautiful name. I just thought that you looked like someone whose name would be Claire." He replied.
"Actually, my middle name is Claire."
"Wow, Tennessee Claire Smith. What a name!" he said back to her. " I love it." He said again.
"Sorry we had to meet this way." She said again with a slight laugh. "I feel kind of silly saying this, but there is just something that I really like about you." She said with a sweet smile on her face.
"Well would you like to go out for coffee? I know this great place just down the street." He asked.
"I'd love to." She said with excitement.
