This is my first Fanfiction on here. I've been writing Fanfiction for a long time but never had the courage to actually post one for everyone to see.

Some details may vary in this story. It's been a while since I read Divergent, so it's likely I have missed minor details.

Disclaimer: I do not own Divergent or anything having to do with it.

Her heart rate quickened, her breathing became short and ragged, and there was no other emotion but terror in her body.

Terrified.

That's what she was. But who wouldn't be in this situation?

As her three attackers struggled to throw her over the chasm and into the roaring water, Tris fought hard. She gave up trying to scream long ago, since one of her attackers had a hand cupped firmly over her mouth, silencing her desperate cries for help.

She knew why this was happening. It was because she was ranked high in a stage of Dauntless initiation, and they were not. It wasn't her fault. She was just good at fighting and throwing knives. Why had it seemed like a crime to them?

She was Divergent. Now that seemed like a crime to everyone.

It shouldn't have been happening to her. There was no reason. Well, a good reason, anyway. They had their own reasons to do this to her, though none of them were good.

She hoped they would be punished, that they would be kicked out of Dauntless. That's all she hoped for. She didn't hope to stay alive, considering she was inches away from falling to her death. All she hoped for was that she would get justice.

"Just throw her over!" One of them shouted.

Tris grunted and kicked, but nothing worked. She elbowed one of her attackers, making them release her. She took that time to rip off the mask of one of the three people who wanted her dead. She was mortified when she saw who it was.

Al.

She couldn't believe he would betray her like this. He was her friend, she listened to his sobs at night, just hoping he would be okay. All the sorrow that she felt for him instantly dissipated into nothing but hatred.

His look showed that he was sorry, but she would never forgive him. Never. He crossed the line, which to Tris, was pretty long, considering she put up with many things without complaining back in Abnegation.

Al and the other two attackers still tried to push her over the railing. She tried to scream again, but the only things that came out were little cries, muffled by Al's hand.

No one would ever hear her.

She was as good as dead, which was what she was extremely close to. In a matter of seconds, she would be dead.

She kept telling herself that she needed to keep fighting, though it seemed merely pointless. They were going to kill her.

It was obvious no one was coming to help her, so she ended the fight, and they got what they wanted. They lifted her body into the air, and dropped her over the railing.

Tris felt like she was flying, though she knew the end of this wouldn't be pretty.

She prayed that someone would miss her when she was gone. Maybe Christina and Will, but that's it. Her parents wouldn't find out.

And within seconds, her flight ended, and she hit the water.
