Kano seemed to be trailing her. He'd followed her from the living room, to the kitchen, and then back to the living room again. This wasn't all that unusual really, but there was something about the way he carried himself that seemed off.

He seemed nervous, maybe even… guilty?

Kido then stopped, turning to face him. "Alright, I'm in a good mood. Just tell me what you broke and I won't yell at you."

Kano just blinked, puzzled, but then he laughed. "I promise," he said, placing his right hand over his heart, the other behind his back, "I didn't break anything."

"Then why are you following me?" she asked, leaving out the part about how it was distracting to her.

"Weeeeell… I was debating whether I should give you something now or not. I guess now is as good a time as any." he drawled, balancing on the balls of his feet.

"Give me something?"

"Yeah, for your birthday."

Now it was Kido's turn to be surprised. "But Kano," she sighed and rubbed her forehead, "my birthday was days ago and you gave me a present then."

Kano expression changed to one of dissatisfaction. "No, that was the whole Dan, so technically that had, like, seven other people tacked onto it too. This is from me. Just me."

He then brought a box out from behind his back. It wasn't wrapped, just plain white. Not even taped at the sides. Kano held it out for her, an eager look on his face, as Kido took it from him.

It wasn't really heavy at all. Suspicion curled inside Kido. She wanted to call him out on it, but she second-guessed that idea and just stood, staring.

"Open it." Kano urged her, making the motion of taking off the top.

So, cautiously, Kido did as she was motioned and opened the top of the box. There, nestled with a couple of lumps of tissue paper, was a purple winter cap and a scarf - the same purple as her hoodie.

He eyes widened. Definitely not what she expected.

Kano chuckled at her blown away look. "I knew you'd love it. Kisaragi mentioned girls like that kind of matching stuff."

Kido ran her fingers over the imprinted image that mimicked the Ipod controls on the front of her hoodie. "Wha… How… how did you-?"

"I made it. Awesome, right?"

She then gave him a disbelieving look, "You made this?"

"Well, okay, not from scratch." he corrected, "but there was a site online and all I had to do was place the images where I wanted them, and then order it."

Then another question arose. "And… exactly where did you get the money to buy this from?"

"Oh Kido." Kano sighed, rolling his eyes, "I didn't steal it or anything. Can't you just be happy I got this for you? Can't I just get a 'Thank you'?"

Kido narrowed her eyes at him, but ultimately gave in. "Thank you." she said, "It was very thoughtful."

"I know, I know. You're welcome." Kano said, acting like he didn't want the praise, but she knew he very much did. "So… does this mean, I'm you're number one now?"

"Oh? So is that why you did this."

"No, no! But that would certainly be plus~"

"Maybe."
