A Primrose's Thoughts
They are all at a table.
Enobaria and Johanna are talking.
Finally Coin walks in. Starts saying something of a new kind of Hunger Games...but it doesn't make sense.
Didn't we just fight for it to go away?
Yes, I listen closer.
Something about Capitol children.
No. Oh no. Don't do it. The Victor's are going to vote.
Katniss, she'll put a stop to it.
Yes. Peeta gets upset at Coin, saying no of course.
Johanna and Enobaria say yes. They've had so much taken away from them, I'm sure revenge is clouding their view of what's right.
Beetee and Annie both say no, Annie remembering Finnick saying he'd vote no too if he was there.
He's sitting next to me, silently watching them.
I see a flicker of remorse when Annie says that, so I grasp onto his hand as we continue to watch them.
It's down to Haymitch and Katniss.
Katniss, to my surprise, hesistates.
What is there to hesistate about? I don't care who they are. Taking lives is taking lives.
I feel fear and anger bubbling up when Katniss finally speaks.
"I vote yes. For Prim," she says.
How could she think I want something like this? I feel a tear pour out of my eye.
It's down to Haymitch.
Peeta is looking at him, just daring him to say yes. Haymitch isn't looking at him though, he's studying Katniss. I dread the next four words he says.
"I'm with the Mockingjay," he says.
Finnick and I both begin to weep, and that day, it rains.
