I open at the close
Yes let death invite you in
Your fate is fixed
Your will resigned
Give up the fight
Leave life behind
Your friends will mourn your loss
Your enemies rejoice
But with your death
Your final breath
You'll win the fight
Put war to rest
So let the veil be yours
Pass through those pearly gates
Don't falter now
Don't hesitate
Or become The Boy
That Was Too Late
Think only of the songs
That will be sung of how
You saved the world
And all within
Your final gift
To adopted kin
Don't stop and wonder why
It was you that had to die
When all you've had
Throughout your life
Was sacrifice
And peril, strife
An unfair fate for sure
When you never asked for more
Than peace and calm
Normality
Childhood woes
Not brutality
And yet they let you stay
With relatives who liked
To beat you down
Knock you around
Ensure your feet
Never touched the ground
And even when you came
To Hogwarts School and fame
Your adoring fans
They taught you how
To give up hope
Take your last bow
They certainly did make
A rigid mould for you to take
In the form of gallant knight
A hero for their plight
Fodder for the canon
A gift for the god of night
It wasn't through a willing mind
But a firmer hand
That you learned to take the fall
And to understand
How survival isn't key
But self-sacrifice can be
If it means the rest go free
So now you know the truth
How is it that you will choose?
To save the world
To die a death
Or live your life
Without regret
