So, here it is! Rose and the Pink Frosted Cookie! Yet another day in the Weasley house...
Once upon a time, there were…cookies!
Hugo had been sitting peacefully in his high chair, as he munched on the apple Hermione had transfigured into a banana. But now, he wanted cookies.
"Mummy, you give me cookie, pease?"
"No, Hugo. Not until after dinner. You have to get your antioxidants and vitamins before you get your high-fructose corn syrup and sugar," Hermione said, as she set the knife to start cutting vegetables for the soup.
"But I want de cookie now!" Hugo said.
"No, Hugo."
Rose walked through the door, holding a pink frosted cookie.
"But Rosie got cookie!" Hugo shrieked.
"Rose Weasley, where did you get that?" Hermione bellowed.
"Er, Daddy gave it to me!" Rose invented.
"Tell the truth, Rose. Where did you get that cookie?"
"I don't know! I was playing with my dollies, up in my room, and I said to the dolly, 'Oh, I really want a cookie!' and it just flew into my room! I don't know how! It's like that spell, the one that Daddy does! Akico! No, that's not right, er, Asio! Er, no, um, what is it?"
"IT'S NOT FAIR!" Hugo wailed.
"Be quiet, Hugo, we can sort this out."
"NOT FAIR!"
"Rose, please give me that cookie. You can eat it after dinner," Hermione said patiently.
"No. I want to eat the cookie now."
"You are not eating that cookie right now, Rose," Hermione firmly insisted.
"Where's the cookie?" Ron asked, poking his head through the door.
"Ronald, please stay out of this!" Hermione said in exasperation, "Now give me the cookie, Rose. You can have it later."
Ron looked slightly nervous and went back to reading the Daily Prophet. As he walked out, he noticed a very smug little grin on Hugo's face.
"No! I have the cookie now! The cookie stays with me! I don't want it to go away! You won't give it back!" Rose protested.
"Rose, hand me that cookie. Right now. Because you're not eating that! I'll give it to you later, I promise."
Rose looked at Hermione apprehensively.
"When's later?" she asked.
"After dinner."
"You won't give it back! I know it!" Rose said and looked like she was near tears, "The cookie is mine! MINE! I KEEP IT!"
Hermione leaned down towards Rose and took the cookie from her protesting hands.
"I promise, you can have it after dinner."
Rose's howls pealed all throughout the house.
"IT'S – hiccup – GONE!" she moaned, "Give it back! Please Mummy! I need the cookie! Give it back!"
"You can have it after dinner," Hermione said resolutely.
"Can I have cookie after dinnah too, Mummy?" Hugo asked slyly.
"Yes, of course. You can both have cookies after dinner!" Hermione said in a frustrated tone.
Rose's yowls persisted.
"MY – hiccup –COOKIE! IT'S GONE! GIVE IT – hiccup – BACK!"
"You can have the cookie after dinner."
"My cookie…" Rose's voice trailed off desolately, as she stared at the pink cookie on the plate on the counter.
So, what did you think? Please tell me!
