I don't know where this came from but it's epic, I did it a while ago. So, uh, tell me what you think if you read it.
The Way It Used To Be
The wind picks up and circles the trees. Leaves fly in slight tornados and dust lifts off the ground. Another hopeless attempt to cleanup my shrine.
I stood at the top step of the stair case leading to our shrine. The silent streets below lined by the row of different color trees a peaceful as before. Fall is upon us and I think to myself another year has gone.
Memories swarm inside my mind. I see them now…
….like it use to be.
Sango's gentle smile while Kilala and Shippo run around. Miroku's lecherous grin as he moves on the woman he loves. The group sitting in an empty field, resting from the long journey. I'm watching them, only thinking of how important they are.
And then he's there. That hanyou, that beautiful man. My heart aches and time stops. Eyes take in the sight of Inuyasha there, against the tree, arms cross, annoyed stare, but innocent grin as he too stares down at our friends. His long silver hair fly's against the wind, only making him seem more heavenly. My heart skips.
Then he turns, his head shifts and his eyes catch mine upon him. A moment of pure chance as we stare back at each other.
What is he thinking? No emotion but for the blush as we take each other in, and than a sly smirk that melts me inside.
That was the way it used to be.
The wind circles me against, and like a nightmare my memory flashes.
The peaceful scene of our quite moment is turned black as the sky gets dark. Inuyasha turns his stare from me to growl, eyes flashing red as he kneels low and his claws come out.
"Inuyasha."
But no, he didn't hear my voice and before I can touch his body ever again he's gone. Running and Running, forever and ever away. I look back at my friends. A shriek ringing in my ear. But no, they're forever gone. I see blood. So much innocent blood. No.
"No!"
The tears burn my flesh but never die. I see the bodies of them. Pathetic limp body of the blood soaked Shippo now in my arms as I kneel. No.
"No!"
Oh no, no why? Miroku lies beside Sango, arm flung over as he bleeds from numerous slashes deep into his body. Kilala lying stiff under Sango as Sango falls. Eye wide, but body dead. Blood splatters from her mouth. No.
"No!"
"INUYASHA!"
No. No. The blood. The green grass now an ocean of red. The calm breeze now a thrashing storm. The sky black and his laugh continues to ring in my ears. And then more. They're all laughing now, and all I can do is shed painful tears.
The broom drops and I blink, suddenly brought back to my reality. Just a dream. A terrible dream. I wipe the single tear away and retrieve the broom stick, turning away with my eyes closed.
"Kagome."
His voice, oh his voice. So calm, so caring, but worried…
…like it used to be.
My eyes open wide, and for a second there he stands. Before, calm, caring, smiling but worried.
Like it used to be.
"Inuyasha."
It escapes with love and relief, but then I blink and he's gone. No, Inuyasha is gone. They're all gone. All a memory now. A sigh escapes my lips and I walk on, returning to my home, returning to my life.
Unaware of the eyes. As I walk away, their eyes follow me. The eyes of those I love most, as I walk away, as I walk back to my reality. A fading memory vanishes with the wind which holds my only comfort, and I again, wipe away another tear …
…to the way it use to be.
I told you. Deep man! R&R...
