"I don't want you to cry and weep
I want you to go on living your life
I'm not sleeping an endless sleep
'Cause in your heart you have all of our good times..."

-With You In Your Dreams by Hanson

Yue never stopped looking over those she cared about. At each nightfall, she would turn her ever loving gaze over the North Pole, to her family; her mother and father. Most nights, they'd be sleeping soundly, peacefully, and that filled her with happiness.

And then she'd look to Sokka, her first and only love. He was always someplace new, but she'd find him easily. As with her parents, she'd be comforted by his sleeping form, whether it be in Ba Sing Se, or on a ship, or camping out in the Fire Nation with his sister and friends, and sometimes a new lover; the warrior, Suki.

But, every now and then, she would find them awake, and not at ease, and most times, their gaze would be focused up at the moon. At her.

Her father would have the most sleepless nights, staring upwards at the night sky. His expression caused her pain; it was sad, and lonesome, and she yearned for nothing more than to reach out, and tell him everything was fine.

She was the moon spirit. She had taken her place, and had accepted it, and had done so willingly. She was serving the world, and her people, in more ways than she ever could have as a princess.

But that was the one draw back for being the moon spirit. She could not just return at a whim, to comfort her father, or her mother.

Or Sokka.

It was Sokka whom she wanted to help and ease the pains of more than anyone else. Sokka had loved her so openly and willingly, had been kinder to her than most, and so insistent upon being with her.

There were many nights that she'd find him staring up at her, either silently so as he lay with the group, in his sleeping bag, or having removed himself from everyone. And while most times he remained silent, she knew what he was thinking about.

Her. And Suki.

He'd talked to her openly about it once or twice. His confliction; he loved her, he still did. And he loved Suki. He was troubled by this.

"I love you, Yue," he'd said. "I can't see myself not loving you. But… Suki. I- I think I love her too. How can I feel this way, for both of you at the same time. I just- it feels like I'm cheating on her. On you. On both of you, by having these feelings. I don't want to hurt her, but I'm not ready to let go of you."

It was heartbreaking to have heard that, and more than ever, Yue had wanted to manifest, and just tell Sokka: it's okay. It's alright. Love her, as you want to. He could not live his life, wishing she was still around.

But he would learn it, eventually. She had faith in him that he would. He was her resilient, kind, and loving Sokka.

I hope you enjoyed this. I'm having fun, exploring the various characters of Avatar with each new story.
