Written for the "50 Pairings, 50 Prompts, Anything but Romance" Challenge (Think My Name Is Funny Do You) at the HPFC.
Short poem about how being the first born affected Draco throughout his life.
Disclaimer: As much as I envy her, I am no closer to becoming J.K. Rowling.
Pairing #17: Lucius M. / Draco M.
Prompt #13: First Born
When Draco Lucius Malfoy was born, it was Lucius who chose his name.
Dragon for being the strongest, most dangerous creature, Lucius in honour of the child's father.
Because he would be his only son, his first born.
When Draco was four, he got everything he wanted.
Lucius showered him with gifts; from toys and expensive food, to robes and many brooms.
Because he was his only child, his first born.
When Draco was seven he was brought up the Malfoy way.
He was to be proud and aristocratic, emotionless and always looking down on others.
Because he was Lucius' only child, his first born.
When Draco was eleven, Lucius made sure he knew the importance of blood status and being in Slytherin.
He was, after all, a Malfoy, and needed to be the best.
Because he was his only child, his first born.
When Draco was sixteen, the Dark Lord gave him a task.
He did it to hurt Lucius, to punish him for failing at his own "simple" task.
Because he was his only child, his first born.
When Draco was eighteen, the Wizarding World shunned him after the war.
They judged him for the actions of his father, and for the crimes he was forced to commit.
Because he was his only child, his first born.
So, my first attempt at posting poetry on … how did I do? Please review!
