If there had been another way...

The wind blew ominously, a warning for all living creatures to scatter; a rough storm was pending thus hanging around would not be a profitable resolution. For miles there was an eerie silence and the only indication of existence was a young woman, sitting on a long tree trunk that had plummeted to the ground and sunken into the musty earth.

Bella spent her evening this way every night and there was not a soul who would think to hinder her from doing so. It had been exactly eight months since the Cullen's had absent from her presence, she had been counting.

Bella was unaware of Jacob, her best friend (who had mysteriously broken his relationship with her the day before) peeking at her through the rusty window of a withering and abandoned shed close by.

He was able to see considerably better than the average human as he had the startling ability to turn into a huge russet coloured wolf and the enhanced sight that came with it. Much to Jacob's distress, Bella was unaware of this fact Jacob had the power to change into the creature he was. Unfortunately for him, Jacob was bound to obeying his Alpha, Sam's orders whether he wanted to or not, the first order happened to be keeping the wolf pack 'secret' well...exactly that.

A shrill "Howl," echoed through the forest and for a moment Bella was hesitant to stay there exposed as the fragile human she was. She stood up and began to walk away but then decided against it and sat back down again, embarrassed at herself for getting so easily frightened. Although she did have an excuse, seeing that she had heard rumours of some terrifying wolves prancing around a couple of days back but she had thought nothing of it then; it was forks after all.

Jacob knew what he had to do; a human drinking vampire was in the area, his objective: to hunt her down and ploy her into the trap of the other wolves, where she would be disposed of, like all the others.

Within seconds he was sprinting, dodging trees and anything else in his path, his fury for the vile creature he was hunting seeped through his body and he was suddenly flying through the air and landing lightly on all fours, clouds of dust clinging in the air behind him.
