Note: Here's a short story about the rise of the Berlin Wall. I hope you like it !
Disclaimer: I don't own Hetalia Axis Powers (Neither the Berlin Wall... Just in case).
Night between August 12 and August 13, 1961
Prussia couldn't believe it.
They were constructing a wall. Right there, separating West and East. His brother and him. Trucks, digging holes, cutting wires, putting barbed ones. Prussia froze. And then, he ran towards West, when arms gripped him. These arms belonged to soldiers, trying to immobilize him. Prussia kept trying to get rid of them, but they were too many.
"West!", he yelled.
A soldier put a hand over his mouth.
Germany was a few streets away, trying to untangle his thoughts. During the last days, he didn't feel well. Like a pressure. He knew something was going on in his country. But this night, it was unbearable. He was walking, not caring about where he was going when he heard him. His brother.
"West!"
His voice faded. Germany ran towards the origin of the scream. When he saw the scene, his heart stopped beating. The first thing he saw was trucks, soldiers everywhere. Constructing a border between West and East. The second thing he was his brother, surrounded by soldiers.
What were they doing to him? And what were those trucks?
"P-Prussia…"
Germany moved forward. At the limit of the wall.
"Prussia! Bruder! ".
This time, his brother heard him. Prussia's red eyes met Germany's blue ones.
He grabbed the hand that was covering his mouth and violently took it off.
"L-look…Look at what they're doing!"
"I-I…"
"A wall! A wall! "
More soldiers. Just in case.
"W-what? I…Why?", he finally said.
Tears sparkled on Prussia's cheeks.
"To separate us."
Germany felt like he has just been hit by a tank.
"No ! It can be for real, I-"
He fell on his knees. A flash of pain ran through his body. He had difficulties standing up for a while, but now he was almost lying on the ground. The more concrete, the more bricks they added, stronger was the pain.
"West!"
…Yeah…that's right, you're West. I'm East… right?
"Bruder, no! I can't see you like that. I-I…"
Soldiers tried pulling him away. More into the eastern side.
"Let me go! He's my little brother! I won't accept to see him disappear behind those bricks! Just let me go!"
Prussia was screaming at the top of his lungs, when he heard his brother. His voice was full of pain. After all, he was Germany.
"Bruder, I can't accept to see you too disappear, but they're too many…"
"I will never surrender! Never! You hear me?"
Germany was shocked. How many times didn't he hear his brother say those words? But he was right, that's what he was doing. Surrender.
"N-Never surrender…"
Germany was rubbing his face with the back of his arms, but they were too many.
Tears were falling on Prussia's knees.
"That's right. Never."
With the time, the sun rises a little bit more in the sky.
"Prussia! I-I swear we will see each other again!"
With the time, the wall rises higher.
"I know bruder. I can trust you."
Germany's blond hair was shining with the sun's light. As well as tears on both brother's faces. But they couldn't see each other anymore. Because of a wall separating West and East.
